Nils is likely to be traded IMO.

felt that way before the last 2 weeks, only further cemented after everything that has transpired.

If Nils is being traded they likely feel Schneider is ready or very close. I could see it. Nils probably has the most trade value in a package of any of the young D.

Wasn’t just toughness, he had that in spades but he was incredibly Raw and big. The knee injury killed his mobility and he never developed the other skills that made scouts like him in the first place. Taking him over Tarashenko was as bad as it gets on the draft floor.
Guys like Berard and Vietminh are chippy players with attitude which is good. But they are lacking in size. Rangers used to draft guys like Dubinsky and Callahan with their mid rounders but they went for skill on a home run pick cause we literally lacked it for so many years
No one likes the pick at the time. I think the Rangers probably would have taken Tarasenko if not for what happened with Cherepanov. I thought they were going to take Fowler (passed on Fowler because of Del Zotto). Regardless mistakes were made

There just aren't very many good options in UFA at LD.

This team desperately needs a left handed Kevin Klein type contract in a trade.

We've got an extra expansion draft defenseman protection slot. Let's make a trade for a solid veteran LD on a reasonable contract that one of these teams with a lot of veteran blueliners would have to expose. There have got to be a number of viable options there.
There's Oleksiak, Martinez, Nemeth, Merrill, Ryan Murray. Montreal has so many LHD, maybe we can poach Kulak or Chiarot, maybe Giordano from Calgary.

I agree, but unless there is an immediate deal we have to take, I think Nils value only goes up when he graces the NHL.

Columbus is looking for a center, eh?

I think Drury has a chance to repeat the Marian Gaborik trade here.

Zibanejad for Roslovic, Texier, and Kevin Stenlund.

Rangers use other assets to make a trade for his replacement elsewhere. Rangers gain depth and get harder to play against.

There you go.

Lundkvist in a package for Larkin. And since it's Stevie Y. we know Lundkvist will be a beast for 15 years.

In that same vein, Zibanejad to Minnesota for Joel Eriksson Ek, Hartman/Foligno, and a pick would be a nice return to me. Assuming we then turn around and trade for another top center.

Has Roslovic been playing center over there

Sometimes that’s okay. Everyone is so terrified of “losing a trade”. If we move Chytil and he becomes a top six center!!! If we move Miller/Lundkvist/Robertson/Jones
/Schneider and they become a top defender!!! If we move Kravtsov!!! Look, we’ve got a lot of prospects at each of these positions. That’s actually THE point. Assuming Kakko and Laf are on a good trajectory and Panarin isn’t about to back flip off of a cliff that’s great wing depth. Fox ain’t going anywhere and we’re not going to empty the cabinets of D prospects, we may just move a couple.

IT’S OKAY if they go on to be great elsewhere. As long as we get what we NEEDED in the return. It’s okay. It’s okay if Lundkvist has 15 great years for one team and we only get 5 good years from whatever we got back. As long as it helps us be a perennial contender and win, at least one, Stanley Cup. It’s okay. We’re gonna have to come to understand that. I pray Drury understands that.

I'd be greedy and ask for Greenway instead of the pick.

Minnesota is a weird team. They overachieved this year and may make a move to keep their window open this summer like trading for a Zibanejad type of player.

Zibanejad even with just a year to UFA would still garner a lot of interest especially if the Rangers retained a bit if the right team needed us to.

I can see Columbus, Minnesota, Colorado, Tampa, Dallas, Nashville, Calgary, Arizona, LA, Vegas, St. Louis, and Seattle interested in various degrees.

I don’t think there’s room in St. Louis. ROR, Schenn, Thomas, Kyrou...even shifting two of those to wing, they’d be pressed to get Zib in their top six. That’s not even considering the cap implications for them.

Trading for Jack Eichel seems like it would reek more of Dolan and Sather than it would of Drury. It'd be like the hockey version of the Carmelo Anthony trade.

Sure I understand that, I was kind of joking that whichever kid is traded is going to end up being an All Star on the other team because that's how these things go isn't it.

Yep, for sure. Wasn’t meant to call you brother. Just addressing an overall mentality that’s prevalent around here. I kinda got what you were driving at. I was more using it as a jumping off point for the reality of where we are, not critiquing you!

I still believe there'll be good value in sending legit top-6 talent to Seattle for some depth/different type of players to what we currently have

I can't believe how many of you are against trading for a legit 1C superstar at 24 years old. It's actually crazy.
The contract is a bit hefty, and the neck injury is a concern but it really is quite insane. People are acting like he's at the end of his prime like Nash or Richards.

The Rangers don't seem to have the same fears as this board does.
