Could the Rangers have been talking to the Jets? I know we all assume it's Calgary but PLD would be of interest and the Jets need defensive prospects, no?
Matt Tkachuk would cost more than what's lying around.
Not Laf or Kakko, but definitely Buchnevich, Chytil, and one of the defensemen.
Agreed in a vacuum where there's no salary cap or positions lolf***ing done
Frankly, I don't even know if I believe in good coaches in the NHL.
The NHL is the biggest old boys league in the world and nobody is trying anything innovative enough to get much more out of their team than they should.
A good coach is somebody who just doesn't make the team worse. I just want somebody who, if somebody asks me how the Rangers play, I can actually explain it.
Three seasons later, I don't know what Quinn wants to do. It seems like he really leaned on the recruitment at a big school being a cut above the pack. That's not how the NHL works.
This team is passive everywhere. Torts teams where passive in transition because Torts wanted you hitting instead of passing and got mad when we scored. But we were aggressive af on the forecheck. AV teams were the most passive I've ever seen defensively, literally letting the other team do offense because we had good goaltending, but they were uber-aggressive in transition, leaving the zone at times before they even had the puck (as Justin Williams/Dan Girardi would tell you).
This team hangs back everywhere. A team that's always passive just doesn't know what it's supposed to be doing.
I've seen Tkachuk's name come up on these boards for a bit. In what world would Calgary move him and why?

Same here. I was fine with that before the whole thing with the Caps.I honestly would not be disappointed if he did on a one or two year contract.
I will be shocked and very, very angry if Quinn isn't canned. It has as much to do with personel as it does the coach. This coach is more Tortorella than Vigneault in terms of offense in that he wants straight line hockey, we aren't built like that. Our defense is young and inexperienced and some ie Bitteto, Hajek aren't going to be nhl defensemen, the only guys that really step up at the blue line are Trouba, Fox and Smith( he misses as much as he connects there). I do believe that the Gm and president firings were likely based around the fact that they didn't want to go get those grinding players that Quinn,Sather and maybe Drury felt they needed. I'm not a Quinn supporter or hater but there's gotta be a reason he didn't get canned with the rest, i mean they could just have dropped Knoblach in there for the last couple games, maybe its because he was requesting player types and they weren't listening.
I think that’s the rub. I think Barron is exactly what you want in a 3C. I think they are gun shy on Chytil. If you move him, and he busts out we look like morons for trading the exact player they are looking to trade for. And we put in all the work to get him to that point. However, and team dealing a center, Chytil is going to be among the first pieces they want backWe need to be looking for a sizeable center with bite and a veteran physical LD. Also the 4th line gets blown to the moon and replaced with 3 players more similar to the Isles 4th line and maybe there's where smith fits in on a cheap contract as a rw who can play d when needed.. I see Chytil being moved, and Barron taking his spot in all this.
I think this crosses the line into overvaluing the things and stuff Tkachuk does when the whistle blows.Id make it work.
one of the few guys I’d trade Kakko for with out a second thought.
i would love larkin. In my perfect world we would trade KAM + for larkin.
than trade strome or zib or both to recoup some assets. Better even would be use those assets to get lindholm too as someone suggested

Let's get crazy :
Laff - Eichel - Tkachuk
- Buch, Strome and a 2022 2nd for Lindholm and Tkachuk
- Zbad for Krebs/Glass and a 2021 1st
- Chytil, Jones, Kravstov and NYR 2021 1st for Eichel
- Give Gauthier a shot at 3rd line RW
- Sign Nosek and Reeves for the 4th line.
- Howden selected by Seattle
- Bring back Smith cheap
- ADA bought out
Panarin - Lindholm - Kakko
Kreider - Krebs/Glass - Gauthier
Nosek - Barron - Reeves
Rooney/Blackwell
Miller - Trouba
Lindgren - Fox
Smith - Lundkvist

Are we hiring Bern?I'd love to figure out a way to get Tkachuk and Eichel. A lot of moving parts but talk about a 1st line that can match-up against anyone. If you could keep Laf and Fox and get those 2 I'd do whatever it took. It would take so much maneuvering though just to get 1 of them so I'm not counting on it lol.

Actually, Smith has always had better advanced stats than his reputation indicates, even this year.I know the advanced stats people hate him but as a 6th/7th defenseman he's not the worst option. Could even slot in at forward if need be. They could do worse, for sure.
