If one has to be traded who do you keep:

Kravtsov or Kakko? why?

Trouba or Kreider? why?

Reunanen or Jones? why?

Rooney or Blackwell or neither? why?

Kakko because he’s younger and better in both ends. I’d move Buch before either though.

Trouba because he’s more important to the D being passable than Kreider is to the forward group. Panarin and Laf should be ahead of Kreider though I don’t hate having him by any means.

Jones I guess but I care about Nils and Schneider more than either.

I guess Blackwell has a higher offensive ceiling but that also lends to him being overplayed. Ideally we’d have neither because the bottom 6 would be improved enough. Maybe Rooney as a 13th forward

Probably Kravtsov. As much as I love what he can do, his smarts, responsibility and his skating, Kakko probably has more upside in regards to being a puck possession beast. Kravtsov just hasn't proven that he can produce enough yet, even in the KHL. He had a decent year but not amazing, production wise. Although I don't think Kakko will ever be highly productive points wise himself.

Kreider, probably. Trouba is young and plays a more important position + we have Panarin/Laf at LW. I'd just say either and be fine with it tbh.

Reunanen. Jones has higher upside, simple as that.

Neither. Both are very cheap and solid, Rangers aren't getting more value in a deal out of them than they are by just having two solid 4th liners at league minimum.

I understand your overall point about players who aren’t perfect angels. I’m saying that, Kuznetsov is the wrong player.

Yeah, a big "no" from me for Kuznetsov. Stay away. Between the cocaine, the reluctance to follow rules, I don't think that's the type of player you want unless he brings something extra to the table. He doesn't.

We are in a bad spot with Kakko and Kravtsov. If we trade them at the Draft we would be selling fairly low because their production so far has been disappointing. Keeping both would be somewhat hypocritical as they almost never hit, but with a coach like Paul MacLean I think they will hit a lot more. (for reference take a look at Zibanejad's hits while MacLean was the coach).

I think ultimately both Reunanen and Jones get traded, but I think Jones goes first because he has a bigger name/hype and more NHL games under his belt.

Not sure yet about Kreider vs Trouba. All depends on Schneider, Lundkvist, etc.

Not sure if there is any worthwhile trades for Rooney and Blackwell. probably Blackwell is more likely to fetch a decent draftpick. Rooney can stay if no trades are available.

Funny, I disagree with all except Kakko.

Kakko vs Kravtsov... Kravtsov’s hockey IQ is ridiculously good. Did you see that play he broke up at center ice last game? Honestly, this is an unfair choice because Kakko’s speed has caught up and neither should be moved.

Reunanen/Jones: Keep Jones... he looks to have an extremely high ceiling offensively.

Kreider/Trouba... Kreider. His net presence/screening ability isn’t something you can easily find. I hated the signing, but I can see the logic. Trouba isn’t nearly as important.

Rooney vs Blackwell. Rooney is literally the epitome of what you want in a 4th liner. Hugely valuable PKer, physical, great forechecker. We’ve been complaining about our 4th line for years. Rooney can do more than goon around. Blackwell, what does he do when he doesn’t have insane shooting %?

Contract is irrelevant. He's a potentially good hard hitting center who can score. If you have nothing to contribute to the conversation, kindly shut it. I'm not asking questions to a wall here.
How is the contract irrelevant if he just signed it and it hasn't kicked in yet? They wouldn't trade a guy they just extended. That's where the conversation about him starts and ends, if you're talking about acquiring him.

what's you all's take on Adam Lowry?

When the Rangers traded Hayes to WPG that was the guy I was hoping they got in return. Posted about it on the main boards at the time. The responses from the WPG were all in favor of not letting him go anywhere. Very well liked player.

I think the guy is the type of players the Rangers could use moving forward. He stands up for his teammates. Even took on Ryan Reaves and did pretty good. He is. A pretty solid Centerman and I don’t think he is the type of players that hurts you when he’s out there in any way. He can def play a heavy game.

They re signed him and I don’t think he is high on players they want to move out.

Reunanen’s a very good prospect but his chances of becoming a regular on the Rangers defense are not good at all. Jones on turning pro instantly eclipsed him. He’s got 5 young LD’s ahead of him—Lindgren, Miller, Hajek, Jones and Robertson. That’s just too much to overcome.

This is the first think Dolan has said about this that I actually agree with, but it still doesn’t seem to explain firing both guys with 3 games left at all. Wait two weeks, say this is the issue and fire Quinn too and it at least seems like a semi logical move

I think both stories can be true. Cocaine James probably has been thinking about a change, and whatever happened between him and his 2 employees over the statement solidified the decision in his mind while also setting him off causing the snap decision.

If one has to be traded who do you keep:

Kravtsov or Kakko? why? Both today. Kakko has more value today but I would keep him over Krat. The answer to this question is actually Buch

Trouba or Kreider? why? Neither in two years

Reunanen or Jones? why? Keep Tarmo because Jones has market value for a trade, he may be redundant with Fox/Lund

Answers above. Rooney or Blackwell or neither? why?
Other answers above: I keep Blackwell even though we need more Ronney esque play. Reason is that Rooneys are plentiful for a backfill and Blackwell makes the ideal 13th F who can play on any line.

Name the times Kreider was no where to be seen.
Fighting has never been his game, why is it his responsibility? Despite that you can easily find 10+ clips of Kreider fighting in about 3 seconds. Sure, his contract isn't great, but manageable until he has a NMC loosens, which will be well before his value diminishes too much. He can play 3rd line, kill penalties, and is still one of the better net front presences in the league on the PP. He'll pot 20+ next season in that role and be a guy that can move up the line up in case of injury or a young forward having a down patch.

Maybe I am too harsh on Kreider?

But just look back at his career. Since the Price thing, he hasn’t been involved in a single controversy that I can think of. Not one. Has he done one thing that the opposition team might take objection against? Kreider isn’t a fighter, or has opted to not be someone that drops his gloves when necessary. But he can at least be painful to play against.

Sheesh. Like there aren’t outside sources and influences for professional athletes and millionaires
So your logic would also point to the fact the caps staff should be able to handle the issues, but they haven't well enough to the point they are talking about trading him. I appreciate everyone's viewpoints on here but this is just reckless. Let's bring a guy with term, significant cap hit, a known drug habit, and issues following team rules into a situation overrun with young impressionable players that we hope will be the identity here for a decade. Geesh, what could go wrong...

He almost killed Brodin the next year.

Keep Kakko - Higher end potential easily. Better league production so far, frankly. Also proven stud defensive forward. Just not on the same tier as prospects.

Keep Kreider - There is literally no room for all our high end defensive prospects to make it. Someone is getting squeezed out. Trouba is making $8m and I don't think he's eventually better than Lunkvist or Schneider. Kreider, while overpaid, still could have a role on the third line as our forward system depth is either much farther off or non existent compared to our defensive pipeline.

Keep Jones - higher end prospect than Reunanen. Just different tiers. No brainer.

Rooney/Blackwell - don't really care. Which signs for cheaper? Which brings back more in trade?

I can't see anyone with term or rookies on the starting roster being moved. A guy like Kravtsov has so much value in the cap world.

The big question is what to do down the middle and on the fourth line. I love Zib but Drury might be hesitant to give him the UFA deal he might ask for. Strome is very underrated. He's no game-breaker but had a hell of a season. Might be a matter of dollars with him as well. Chytil is a big question mark, but only 21 and cost controlled so unless a deal comes along I would think he stays put. Barron is going to be good and has enough size and jam to play the bottom 6 next year.
