Would take a shot on Carrick but would probably require them to waive JJ and I don’t see that happening
Maybe the front office is part of the problem in terms of the vets? I mean they identified who they wanted and either signed, traded for and/or extended them.
If we want to say the youth development is going okay, and the cheaper short term contracts are playing well, thus putting the blame on the vets who should be playing better, who are basically Panarin, Trouba, Kreider, Strome, Smith, J Johnson, shouldn't we question why those are the vets they picked?
Then we can ask about cap management, leaving Panarin out of it as he has been good and is now injured, they are spending around ~30M on those vets and another ~16M on buyouts and Deangelo. ~46M on stuff that is not helping anything.
Maybe that is why they will not change coaches, if things did not improve under whoever they picked next where does the speculation go to what is wrong with them?
I'd prefer Raty and Johnson over Beniers
I don't know if I'd say Bergeron but Cirielli would make more sense. Which is great. I'd kill for Cirielli on this team... but I think we can get more from Raty and Johnson.
You’ve seen from my post that I’m far from Quinn’s hater and have been preaching patience instead of reacting to early season’s vows. I also completely agree that Quinn has done quite well as a developmental coach. However he can’t ONLY be judged from this perspective if the management has longer terms plans for him. Injuries and all, at this point I’m really disappointed with how team plays against weaker team in the division and if we were to argue that it’s a on players (vets) then no consequences afterwards is worrisome. My biggest issue is really with Kreider as a player and Quinn’s no action in this regard. At this point benching Kreider during a game and making him a healthy scratch afterwards has been long overdue.
Like that 3rd line, all things considered.
You're right, I mixed his up wit Mika's, I think Buch is $3.25M? So what would you put Buch at on a new deal next offseason?
I guarantee you Laf scores a goal if that line stays together.
Seeing Johnson rotate in with Miller makes me cringe
Also please bare with me, I am a long life Rangers fan, loved them as a kid, but eventually got away from Hockey, had a hard time understanding the game, finally got back into it the year we had & trade Zucarello & Hayes, I got back in cause I decided to try that years EA's NHL game, I became hooked, It used to be for me ranking wise in order.Buch’s cap hit (AAV) is not $5.35
they figured they had 4RHD with Trouba, Fox, ADA and Smith.4-6 weeks is a broken hand or something like that for trouba. Brutal
Jeff Gorton has Brendan Smith Libor Hajek Ryan Lindgren a kid in KAndre they loved over the summer break and Tarmo for the left side.
they chose to sign Bitetto and Johnson for some reason and decided not to sign one right handed dman knowing all you had was 8 23 and a volatile 77 who clearly was getting close to last straw status. They had dealt away keane and failed to sign lundkvist. So one injury to the right side would be tough to overcome. Two guys out? You’re screwed and here we are.
Thanks for the quick response, I'm new to the NHL Salary Cap, as I stated in my new post I posted a minute ago, so I'm trying to figure where guys fit AAV wise. It’s tough to say with so many variables including covid impact on the cap. On the long term deal it will probably has to start with a $5.xx and the question is whether it’s closer to $6.0 or $5.0.
Like that 3rd line, all things considered.
I don't think they do have longer term plans for him. It feels like a situation where all parties involved know why he's here. I think once this team looks poised for a run, they'll be heading into the end of Quinn's contract ant they'll probably bring in someone new.
Benching someone like Kreider or Zibanejad is a big step. I trust that Quinn has his finger on the pulse and will do that if he feels it was necessary.
Ugh who gave Carrick 1.5?? Ah, the Devils.I saw that too and thought maybe ....8 million cap space so 1.5 ufa isn’t a big deal and he’s a righty shot
could maybe trade for a D with a pick added now though

1. NFL (49ers)
2. NBA (Rockets)
3. NCAAF (Notre Dame)
4. NCAAB (Notre Dame)
5. MLB (Yankees)
6. NHL (Rangers)
But after the past couple seasons, my love for Hockey has gone up to the 2nd spot, it would go NFL, NHL, NBA, NCAAF, NCAAB, & MLB(I've lost interest in it). The reason for the NFL is I track the 49ers cap numbers, actually have real NFL sources who give me contract numbers, I've broken several contract news breakdowns, was mentioned by local beat writer Matt Maiocco. I've been doing it since 2005, so I've now begun to try and understand the NHL cap, I think I'm getting there. Also for the NFL, I was always up to date on the draft prospects, still am, kinda, used to have a website, but too much to take on, and now I'm trying to get to know upcoming NHL draft prospects.
The biggest blow to the team was Chytil’s injury coupled with Zibanejad’s post-covid performance. Both things is in the realm of “can’t be anticipated”.
Strome without Panarin is a very adequate 3rd line center and it’s not his fault Panarin and Chytil are injured and Zibanejad has been MIA. Howden is ok playing on the 4th line.
Kreider had to be healthy scratched yesterday (he deserves public stripping of the A off his jersey).
