I'm honestly more intrigued by a trade of Buchnevich to see what can be had there than anything else right now. Teams like Edmonton will be looking for secondary scoring help
Hard to see how we win a trade of Buchnevich at this point.

Blackwell has played Center. He should be moved there with Kakko.

At what point do you take Zibs away from Kreider and Buch? I'd put him with the bottom6 tbh.

As bad as it looks/sounds, this is our best option

Kreider Rooney Buch
Lafreniere Blackwell Kakko
Panarin Strome PDG
Lemieux Zibs Howden/Gauthier
I would stick with Zibby at 1c longer than 12 games. We owe him that. Hopefully he’ll snap out of it.

They were unable to claim him unless they somehow could dump 4.5 million overnight. A trade is the only way they could do it.

That part still isn't lost on me. I'm not expecting peanuts back for Tony. Salary in your deal checks out, I just think we are setting up ourselves for disappointment if we think we are going to get multiple pieces that play in our lineup right away for DeAngelo without attaching someone else to him.

Take away NJs Hart winner and you got a lottery team (that won Jack Hughes)
Take away our Hart finalist and you got what we had last night.

So many of yall have to seriously temper your expectations. This team isn't going anywhere this year.

Last year we had some serious luck with injuries/health. Not so much this year.
Last year we had a decent shot at a wildcard spot with how hot the team was. This year we're in the murder division of death.
Both last year and this year the team has tons of dead cap space and as such is completely bereft of depth, its just more glaring now that we aren't so lucky with injuries.
Last year we had the 2nd youngest roster, and that was with Hank and Staal still on the team. We have the actual youngest roster in the league this season, with by far the least amount of games played . Next year we will get even younger.
Expecting Laf (and last year Kakko) to come into the league and blow the doors off is and was unreasonable. Placing the blame on Quinn for teenagers not being world beaters is hilarious.
Not to mention all of the kids that have blossomed over the past 3 years or made a mostly seamless transition into the league. Zibanejad, Chytil, Buchnevich, Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Kakko (literally night and day comparing last year to this one), hell even TDA (on the ice) is a way better player than when he got here 3 years ago. Does Quinn get and credit for those successes, or is he just responsible for the failures thus far?

As has been the plan ALL ALONG.. once the expansion draft comes and goes and the cap opens up wide is when the team should be turning a corner. Any success that comes in the meantime is gravy. A rebuild doesn't end because we had 1 good half season.

Can only imagine what some of the chants would be if MSG was packed, hopefully that time will come and it will benefit these guys. This season looks lost.

I think it's just typical response from the fan base. They want blood after a poor start and Quinn is the easiest person to point to. Management is worried about the next 10 years, not the next 10 days. They look at this team and see significant improvement in the play of their young players -- almost to a man. They see some of the role players they brought in stepping up in a big way and playing with energy and pace. They see a massive improvement in their defensive scheme after bringing in a new assistant coach. So the things they did in the off-season to help improve the team are working and they're likely pretty darn satisfied with that.

On the flip side, they also see a team that just went through some significant locker room turmoil. So they probably want to give the players and coaches some time to put that behind them. Additionally, they see that some of their key veteran leaders are failing to come through. They're probably WAY more focused on the long term prospects of Zibanejad and Kreider than they are Quinn.

Quinn was brought in to be a developmental coach and the players are developing. He's really not the problem here. The veteran players who are supposed to be leading the team not showing up? That's a big problem right now. Will it be a problem long term? That's for the front office to decide on.

Maybe the front office is part of the problem in terms of the vets? I mean they identified who they wanted and either signed, traded for and/or extended them.

If we want to say the youth development is going okay, and the cheaper short term contracts are playing well, thus putting the blame on the vets who should be playing better, who are basically Panarin, Trouba, Kreider, Strome, Smith, J Johnson, shouldn't we question why those are the vets they picked?

Then we can ask about cap management, leaving Panarin out of it as he has been good and is now injured, they are spending around ~30M on those vets and another ~16M on buyouts and Deangelo. ~46M on stuff that is not helping anything.

Maybe that is why they will not change coaches, if things did not improve under whoever they picked next where does the speculation go to what is wrong with them?

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse. Can’t wait for the second and third pairings of Johnson-Smith Hajek-Bitetto. And when you throw in guys like Rooney, PDG, Blackwell, it’s like a pre season lineup

to go along PDG, Rooney, Blackwell and a few others.

It’s a decent lineup for Hartford.
You would think they’re gonna sell now because they have no chance of making the playoffs as is. Problem is there’s no guys of value who are in walk years to sell. It’ll have to either be stay the course ride out the year and access or make hockey trades now with key guys under contract.
