Rafalski was a borderline HOFer. Take that comp for Fox and run.

It’s funny since I’m fairly sure he was never top ten in Norris voting ever in his career. This was back when Barret f***ing Jackman won the Calder tho so who knows with those media voters.

3 times 9th in Norris voting according to hockey-reference.
Still not sure how you can go from not being drafted, to the Finnish leagues, to dominating the NHL as a 26 year old

At age 27, Martin St Louis' single season record was 40 points.

Miller out tomorrow too? Devils get the easiest welcome back game imaginable. 22 save shutout for Blackwood. 7 points for Hughes.

Well if Mika's post Covid gameplay is any indication of what we should expect out of them, they will all avoid physicality, miss the net and fall down alot for the next 6 weeks. I know it affects everyone differently so I am only mostly joking, but if they come out flying like they haven't missed a beat i'm gonna have a hard time listening to that excuse going forward for him.

I've already stopped listening to that excuse.

I mean Dallas and Carolina haven't missed a beat.

this is untrue. They have had favorable matchups but they have played well, especially Hajek. And #25 has been playing his offside.

Sorry, work was annoying today. I'm not expecting them to be good, there's a reason they ended camp as our the 8th and 9th dmen. I'm sure no NHL team's 8th and 9th dmen are very good. Quinn and Martin have done a solid job in trying to get them favorable matchups, and they are still just being buried. Smitty should 100% draw back in for one of them when he's ready to go, and then have Bitetto and Johnson be the 6th and 7th dmen.

Let Hajek go to Hartford and play top 4 down there and get 23 minutes a night, he's just not ready for the NHL level, maybe he never will be, but might as well let him play strong minutes in the AHL.

I can comment a bit on the hurricanes.

their first game back the had a great first period then cratered. I’d expect similar. Excited to get back on the ice followed by adrenaline dump and heavy legs. Rangers need to be tight in the first and let devils gas themselves out.

also if you look at Teravainen he had COVID very bad as well. Finally broke out tonight but his stats were pretty grim too. So Mika isn’t the only high level player who has been trying to get his legs back. Took Teravainen about a month to get going.

i feel like you gotta keep rolling with that third pairing. smith makes too many boneheaded plays that result in high danger chances against. when one of them has a bad game you can slot in smith and see what happens. i'm just sick and tired of the smith experiment. he is who he is. i'm ready to give anyone else a shot as long as his name isn't jack johnson. this season is close to over for the rangers and smith isn't going to be their savior. start seeing what the kids have instead.

Not saying we didn't have arguments and disagreements now and again but RangerBoy is and has always been one of our best and most insightful posters. I do wish he were around as much as he use to be.

On the question of our AHL roster we do need some veteran presence down in Hartford. You can't just run an AHL team with prospects. They'll get waxed way too often which is not a good situation for the youngest among them let alone anyone else. On the Hartford D for instance the likes of Raddysh and LoVerde provide a stability to the team that will help someone like Reunanen grow. Until recently we also had Braden Schneider there and by all accounts his play was excellent before he was forced to return to the WHL.

We're in a good spot with prospects and Kris Knoblauch is an excellent young coach. Next year he should have both Schneider and Robertson full time and that's exciting....and maybe Hunter Skinner too. The year after probably Zac Jones. I also wouldn't be surprised if he saw Kravtsov at least a bit though I think Vitali will probably get some NHL time some time this year too. We're not as deep at forward though as we are in D. Nils Lundkvist I think will go straight to the NHL.

I disagree, i think Hajek has beeen decent in his return to the big team, he has to be given some rope because we are at the tipping point with regards to his career, it does him no good to go to Hartford and to send him there now is effectively saying we are done with him. He needs to play a significant portion of the year if he isn't hurting the club, which he isnt, and i personally have liked his quick passes out of our end, let the team see if he can continue to improve. Its no secret that Bitteto, Smith and Johnson are gone after this season so give Hajek the ice time to see what he's got.

nonono the excuse from CK now is 'but dat defense', and we all KNOW you can't turn good defense into fast breaks or even zone time the other way, impossible.

Wouldn't think Skjei or Vesey were on that shit.

It ran rampant through the league in the 80 through the late 90's.

It's still running rampant through the league my dude.

The 3 of them lived together in tribeca/soho area, they're all college fratboy kids.
