Could Buchnevich and Panarin be a good influence on Galchenyuk? At 1.050 it seems like it couldn't hurt to try, while 1 center is injured, another is not at 100%, and two others are MIA.

busy day on the waiver wire -
Byron, DeKeyser, Galchenyuk, 24-yr old 6'5" CBJ 1st rd D G. Carlsson
woulda been good day to post Smith and Johnson

why they bounce the kids, but not Smith, on/off the roster, to taxi, for Cap recovery, is mystery to me

We don’t need more retread soft players.
I’ll repeat myself
Empty the vault and do everything in your power EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO OVERPAY to get a bonafide number 1 center. Then put Kakko and Laf on his line and play them 20+ minutes every night and make them PP1. Nothing else matters. Everyone not named
Shesty
Fix
Miller
Panarin is fair game. Everyone!

Galchenyuk is the original Buch, he took the American thing so far that he changed his birth certificate to say born in the USA

that player is an unsigned draft pick that has never signed a contract. so doesn't impact the cap
They just sent a player to CBJ for a 7th as well.

@Avery16
Yes, but given that Carolina will be able to subtract almost all of Galy's cap hit if he is claimed or demoted, I guess they will have trimmed roughly 1.5 million when all is said and done.

Galchenyuk is NOT the player to grab on waivers. Guys like Digi, Blackwell and Rooney offer more in their roles than Gally does at this point in his career. Big pass.
If he stinks it up, you just waive him, demote him and his cap hit goes poof. He wouldn't block anyone unless his play warranted that.

Galchenyuk just lowers the ice time Kakko and Lafreniere get. No thanks.

This roster's only weakness at the moment is center. All other problems are based on youth, coaching, and performance.

It's one of the reasons this season has been disappointing so far, because this is a playoff team on paper.

Not saying we are/or should be involved. It's just an interesting series of moves if for no discernable reason. Maybe something in the works that is agreed in principle but the cap doesn't work with Carolina and said team, so side deals made before the hammer drops.

Something has to be up with them. Just curious if it was us given Gorts penchant to deal with familiar and previously successful partners.

I posted this on the main trade board in response to a Habs fan that wants Kreider. What about Kreider for Mysak + Mete + cap balancer?

This would essentially offer the Rangers a redo on last year’s deadline. Mysak was a guy a lot of us were targeting with the late first that we moved up to grab Schneider. Mete in my limited viewings looks like an upgrade on Hajek. Thoughts, other than it being hugely unlikely they move Kreider period?

Last I heard was 1-2 weeks

Vince was posting about practice yesterday

It feels like 5 years since he last played. If he can come back to where he was playing all of a sudden we theoretically have three good lines. Of course Mika nowadays seems to debunk every theory.

Kreider for Danault would be really interesting to me as a hockey trade; if Habs are willing to do that.

I’m not taking Mysak back. Im not taking any wingers back. I’d want Poehling back. Mete is fine but he isn’t want I would call a primary target.

Kreider's done some good stuff this year (maybe not so much the last few games) - it's good that he's finally on the penalty kill - but I don't see why that's a contract anyone would want.

Yeah, I can get behind that. The trade I proposed was essentially Kreider for a late first plus a prospect as most were expecting to get back at last year’s deadline.

I’d also prefer a center that is closer to contributing.
