Just release the kid so he can earn more money in Europe. That's a more dignified and classier thing to do, and frankly a lot more respectable.

Whether he is or isn't good enough for the NHL is a moot point if you actively suppress a guy's career earning potential.

This is a major league turn off. Just idiotic PR when you go out of your way to keep a players earning potential down, especially if you have no plans to use him. Just comes across as spiteful. Why re-sign him if you aren't going to play him?

They tried to trade him last year. He cleared waivers. He was a RFA last summer, if he wanted to sign in Europe, he could have. Unless they made a promise to him I’m not aware of I can’t see what they did wrong. They probably have 36 skaters they’d rather get a look at in camp than him.

I mean in someways I’d imagine this is also Lou’s way of sending a message, if I don’t like you as a player I’ll bury your career.
Thus reminding everyone in the nhl both how big an ass he is, and also ensuring that players do what he wants.

Get ready to learn some new moves, Sabres players.

So to my earlier much earlier post about Hajek + for Roslovic (I'm still working this week even though it's more log on when you can opposed to 9-5+) my logic is that Hajek's value is down and the 2nd as opposed to a 5th is because Roslovic is a former first rounder who is improving and the length of controlled rights years will make him more expensive.

In a lot of ways, Roslovic is like Gauthier only a little older and more ahead in his development.

The problem with adding Roslovic is he's very redundant. The Rangers are pretty good up front and basically have 11/12 spots taken (Ziba-Panarin-Kreider-Buch-Strome-Kakko-Laf-Chytil-Gauthier-Lemieux-Howden). The last spot is either going to Barron/Rooney/Gettinger (in that order) so adding him automatically knocks out Barron for a spot. Unless this is some mega deal where Buch goes the other way.

Lemiuex isn't going back to Winnipeg so out of guys who could be traded for Roslovic, it's Buch or Howden.

It's just not a good fit and then there is expansion.

I suggested Hajek because I think it's going to be very similar to Ryan Graves and they move on from him unless he has a stellar camp.

The org is clearly committed to giving K. Miller/Reunenan real shots this year plus Robertson is quietly in the wings.

As far as Howden, let's see if he has matured and marinated physically. Remember those first 20 games two years ago when he looked like Chris Drury 2.0? Maybe he can get back to that. It's a big year for him.

Love seeing all these other players sign elsewhere

There's not much the Rangers can do. They're capped out and will have to get creative and make some hard decisions if let's say all of K. Miller/Reunanen/Barron are on the opening night roster. They might have to go to a 21 man roster and taxi other guys for a few weeks.

It's also a rough time for Northeastern cities with Covid, a rebuilding team that isn't established as a contender with a coach who may or may not be the right guy, and it's expensive to live in NY dawg.

Oh I wasn’t being sarcastic

I get what you mean, but this will be a really tough year for everyone and I am far from convinced that we are doing the kids any favors by entering the year without any kind of depth.
