The NHL thinks marketing is a four letter word. they have been loath to do anything in this regard; they're still stuck in the days where they think all they have to do to advertise/market is to tell people when the game starts.

The fact that there are no preseason games has me thinking that the opportunity for young players to force their way into the lineup may be different.

coaches are going to have to draw inferences from practice and scrimmages. I guess having veterans available on the taxi squad might make giving cups of coffee to Reaunanen Barron or Miller easier.
