they weren’t the first to wear it after a long time captain left.
Long-time captain? Not even 4 full seasons.

He did. And I loved Mac. But his jersey isn’t going in the rafters. He has been gone for two years now, going on 3. I am fine with JJ wearing it. He is not some random player or rookie.Ugh too hungover to be so nit picky. He played for us a long time. Star player here and Was a captain for 4 years. Is that enough?
I f***ing hate nerdsFrom Dom L of the Athletic, a team ranking of contract values:
28. New York Rangers
Last year: 26th
There aren’t many non-ELC deals on the books for the Rangers, but those that are here offer a huge range between great (Mika Zibanejad) and awful (Jacob Trouba). The latter looks to be a big problem for New York as he’s being paid to be a No. 1 defenceman and proved last year that it’s very unlikely he can be that. It’s one of the worst deals in the league. Chris Kreider is near the bottom as well, almost entirely due to how he’s going to age. He’s worth $6.5 million now, but it’s unlikely he’ll continue to be as soon as 2021 – especially with top pick Alexis Lafreniere usurping him in the near future on the left side.
To add insult to injury, the Rangers rid themselves of Marc Staal, only to sign Jack Johnson to a $1.2 million deal that is by my math $3.1 million too much. Not a typo – he hurts the team that bad.
A final note on the Rangers: At $19.6 million, no team has more dead money on the books.

if someone is going to wear the number of an important player you’d want it to be someone special. Not shit head jack johnson
We are both kovalev stans. No player unless immensely talented should wear this sacred numberNo 27 doesn't really mean anything to be honest. We didn't have this debate when Lindberg played with no 24.
The only non-retired number I can understand fans having issues with is 30. Other than that, I really do not see any issues. Johnson will be gone next year leaving 27 open for Lundkvist![]()

It's just so unimportant. Just because a guy wears a uni # for a few years it doesn't make it a special number forever. You either retire a number or it's fair game. Have they "reserved" Barry Beck's #, or Bob Nevin's?Ugh too hungover to be so nit picky. He played for us a long time. Star player here and Was a captain for 4 years. Is that enough?

I’m not saying it’s important but for some background (I’m sure I’m not the only person to feel this way) I wore 27 because of kovalev growing up. Wore it in high school, juniors, college, men’s league (LOL). I have a connection to that number. Hell I wanted panarin to wear it so bad! Obviously it’s not important but if laf or panarin was wearing it I’d have bought a jersey in 2 seconds lol. That’s really the disappointing thing about itIt's just so unimportant. I bought a Kovalev jersey on June 14, 1994, and I have absolutely no problem with other players wearing the number. We are both kovalev stans. No player unless immensely talented should wear this sacred number

I realized you were too hungover to write it. Figured you were in the same boat as me. Unless you are actually AK27. Message me if you areyou might as well have wrote that for me. That’s my story exactly
Read my other post. I know it’s fair game. Just wish I could buy a 27 jersey with laf or panarin and not have JMFJ wearing it lolI bought a Kovalev jersey on June 14, 1994, and I have absolutely no problem with other players wearing the number.
If it ain't retired (or clearly destined to be retired, e.g. 30), then it's available, pending perhaps a few months to a year or two's temporary moratorium for guys who played a meaningful role over a significant period of time.
27 is definitely in "fair game" territory now.
The Jackets apparently wanted a long-term contract but Dubois sought a short-term deal that would allow management sufficient time to trade him for a return commensurate with his value. It also keeps Dubois from being locked-in long term with the Jackets.
Dubois didn’t sign an offer sheet but Portzline indicates he did speak with other clubs. It was in those discussions that his desire to leave Columbus became clear.
Earlier this week, Ken Warren examined how the recent moves by the Senators have created a logjam at center and on defense. The additions of Derek Stepan and Cedric Paquette gives them five centers. Because there’s limited room to move a center to the wing, Warren suggested moving on from Artem Anisimov.
We all have connections to numbers. And we probably feel more connected to the numbers guys wore when we first started following the team. I know I still do. But complaining about a guy wearing a number because a past, even recent past, captain wore it? One they traded away? I guess I won't ever see the point of "hoping" a player takes a certain number. Although it is cool that Laf wears my number 13!I’m not saying it’s important but for some background (I’m sure I’m not the only person to feel this way) I wore 27 because of kovalev growing up. he was a RFA so no.speaking with other clubs?
Isn't that tampering?

Buy a #13 Laf or a #10 Panarin jersey instead. Pretty simple.Read my other post. I know it’s fair game. Just wish I could buy a 27 jersey with laf or panarin and not have JMFJ wearing it lol
I don’t think anyone is complaining. You just don’t want to see crappy players wearing your favorite number lolWe all have connections to numbers.
