I would love to see Schneider in camp, but with him being at the WJC, it makes sense if he can't attend.

Can anyone share what are the taxi squad rules are?

Well, he also had until 5 PM today to sign his ELC for the contract to be slide eligible. So it's not happening now.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. So 6 slots past the 23. So we're looking at your top 29, with a bunch of ELCs that can be sent down.

Potentially. Depending on who makes the team, we might carry less than 23 on the roster.

Great thanks... well that means he's probably going to be in juniors for the whole season. Can they bring him up as a taxi squad member at year's end?

Only if they want to burn a year of his ELC. I doubt they will.

By not signing him in 2020, they basically guaranteed that the clock starts ticking the moment his ELC kicks in, so even if they have him in the AHL for the entire 2021-22 season, the ELC will still burn a year

Got it thanks. Yeah I didn't expect him to play on the Rangers this year, but was curious if the new rules would allow some time on the taxi squad.

AK, this got me wondering, is there such a thing as an NHL ATO?

Okay going to give this an early ranking. We know the locks on the team, but I'm glad that they really addressed depth down the line-up. They got a bunch of 4A guys, which is great for HFD, but with this year being what it is I would lean towards the guys who need the minutes being the AHL versus in the Taxi Squad.

Below is a positional depth chart analysis more than anything else based on where I think things are. Bold=NHL Lock, Italicized=Taxi Squad/NHL Healthy Scratch, Standard = AHL

Bread-Zibs-Buch
Kreids-Strome-KK
Lafreniere-Chytil-
Gauthier
Lemieux-Rooney-Blackwell
Digi
-Howden-Brodzinski
Barron-Fontaine-Greco
Gettinger-Khodorenko-Richards/Reuschoff

Blackwell played well in the NHL last year, but he was not a checker. He was slotted in the Victor Arvidsson role. I can already see the reaction to him getting time with let's say Strome.

Gauthier has the best opportunity imo. He can earn a spot on the PP, and time next to one of the Rangers premier playmakers. The guy's a gifted athlete and I think that he's someone who can thrive.

Digi is a safety valve of a winger and one I think that really helped Filip settle in last year, but he's an ideal 13th forward. Barron is a really fit athlete and one that might be too good of an athlete to be kept in the AHL. He's another one who can push Howden and Rooney in that C/LW slot on the 4th line.

Yes, they ATO'd K'Andre last year and he stuck around with the group for a brief post-season period. Not sure how it works this year however.
