Smith is a logical throw in because it would help the cap a lot and Torts loves playing defensemen at forward in important games.This is why we hired JD. He needs to work his magic and trade Buch+Robertson for Dubois

Rangers should be all in on Dubois although not sure we’re a great fit trade chip wise
Also can’t imagine Columbus would be thrilled to trade with us after what went down with JD and Panarin leaving

PLD is the exact type of guy we need riding behind Zib. Gotta think you’re looking at young roster player + top prospect + 1st. Columbus doesn’t need defense they need offense. Chytil + Kravtsov + 1st I would have to be the start.
I would drive them to Columbus myself and I realize Buch and ADA are legit NHL Players. Dubois is just so underrated and he a beast already and a guy that will make your life difficult in the playoffs. Dubois and Kakko or Dubois and Lafreniere on the same line? lol

We'd need cap going the other way in order to fit PLD. Buchnevich would be the likely candidate.
Yep and he is no doubt a top line center already. So pretty much two top 10 centers in the NHL on your roster.
I would hope we could ship out some salary along with a Kravtsov like a Strome or Buch. Or I guess an ADA if necessary.

Take out Lundkvist and add Strome.
ADA or Buch, Strome, Kravtsov and a draft pick. I rather not trade ADA but I realize our RHD has become a position of strength for us.

It's interesting CLB went from being the league's best rush offenses during Bread's last year there, to one of the tightest checking teams last year. PLD was asked to make the same set of sacrifices as Seguin was after the coaching there.
Now CLB at times played like they wanted to get a tie and get to OT. Actually, they pretty much played that way once the injuries started piling up to keep banking points last year. I would say this, if we stack up some of the numbers on him but ignore offensive conversions, PLD is a dominant true number one center. You add in those conversion figures.... well he was on the losing end last year. How much of that is driven by CLB's don't go for it strategy vs not is definitely a factor.
In other words, PLD did a ton of the heavy lifting defensively. We're talking getting up there in the Bergeron territory, except he didn't play with offensive juggernauts and the team would opt to not gun it offensively like they did in the year prior. Net/Net PLD worked his ass off last year, and didn't get rewarded offensively. If that is hurting his pay day, I can see why he would be upset.

If the Rangers are looking to cash some of their trade chips I’d much rather it be for PLD than Monahan.
