Surprised they got that much for him. Contract year for Step. He’s a guy I wouldn’t mind bringing back on a cheap UFA deal next season to play 4C a la Dom Moore.
My first thought was surprised they got a 2nd round pick for him.
Also would love to bring Stepan back on a reasonable UFA deal for depth. Quite frankly I had him as a depth center target at this years trade deadline depending on how the season was going.

I’ll always love Stepan. He should have gotten the C over McD, but he’s cooked now.

I think there are funnier named birds like bearded tit, but Koekkoek is up there for sure
Holiday wish list:
1) Laff is so good out the gate he must play opposite zib.
2) Hajek is healthy, locks down a LD spot and excels.

If Laff is that good out of the gate it means he doesn’t have to play with Zib because he producing on his own and you create matchup nightmares by having them on different lines.
Not necessarily. Assuming panarin operates with Strome and another lucky duck, you would play Laff either on line 1 or 3. If he’s THAT good, you do not give him third line minutes. He moves to the top with Zib.

“Third line minutes”. Stop with that. Just because a guy is playing on a “third” line doesn’t make it a third line per se.
You’re not wrong but Quinn hasn’t shown any tendency to balance lines like that, his preference seems to be an overload of minutes for his top performers

It’s MY wishlist. I want Laff to be so good that he needs more minutes than other players. Deal with it.
19-20 season we had mika and panarin playing on separate lines, but anytime they were down in the third period it was always back to one line.

Lafreniere is gonna need some adjustment time especially with not having player for so long, 3rd line is the spot for him for now
last year at ES, zibanejad averaged 15:20, strome averaged 14:24 and chytil averaged 13:32. that's pretty balanced for the top 3 lines.
