I do not want to move Fox - but at the end of the day every player has a price. If the offers on ADA are garbage, but I can get arguably the best Center prospect in the NHL for Fox, I pull that trigger as painful as it is..

I’ve been drinking and I’m posting a very improbable scenario — but, it’s something that crossed my mind and wanted to hear some of your thoughts. So far, you actually answered my question, where other posters posted the garbage response I kind of expected.

You would think if Strome got wind of Ottawa possibly looking at trading for him he would take less money from the Rangers lol.
I mean Ottawa is gonna have some really good young players but his point total will drop from 70 to 30 and be on a losing team for the next 2-3 years.

Loved watching the lottery first phase. Seeing NJ drop to 7, seeing Detroit get cucked hard and then seeing the Sens miss out on top 2 was sweet, after everyone was pencilling in Lafreniere to one of those 2 teams. Wasn't thrilled that LA landed 2 but could live with it. Never really thought we'd be the ones to win the lottery round 2 but there was always that million to one shot.

After we lost in humiliating fashion to Carolina I was in such a sour mood, thank god we won the lottery. We deserved it.

Great energy at the board! I just want add a few things on the waiting for a trade stuff.

1. So obviously a trade is preceded by negotiations and when those negotiations are done the trade is filled with the NHL and announced as soon as possible.

Before negotiations are done, there is no trade. We are never waiting for a trade to be announced, we are waiting for negotiations to end (successfully). Right?

If there is a trade deadline it’s one thing, but knowing negotiations — if they can drag out they will drag out...

2. We could like get direct lines to 15 GMs in the NHL, and still get a very unclear picture of what will and will not happen. It’s a very complex process and nobody can predict for sure what will happen.

In addition, if we knew the “successful trade“/“talks” ratio league wide, I am fairly certain that our first conclusion would be that the best bet in ration to any given scenario is that “nothing will happen”.

So regarding like the talk we have heard, say OEL have played his last game for Arizona, Johnny Hockey will be traded before free agency. Maybe, but if I had to bet everything I own on either of these scenarios coming through or not — I don’t think it would be an easy call. So much can go wrong in these talks — and if everything done go right the “default option” is no trade.

3. I consider GM/other official personnel including scouts/coaching staff/players/agents as well as everyone that has had those positions for us or other teams as great sources, and that list isn’t exclusive.

I love to hear tidbits from them. Rumors. It’s essentially information on that certain talks are held, meaning that a team might consider something.

I feel like there's a better chance the Rangers can maybe address their need for a middle-six center tomorrow or by Wednesday at 5pm. I'm not confident they can land an LD option right now. The D or G markets may not move much until UFA opens. We'll see.

The weirdest thing to me was walking out of a club on a Sunday afternoon, and watching Church going families look at you and your group being blinded by the sunlight like a bunch of zombies.

Even the children knew we were up to no good by the look of us.

I've had similar experiences...one in particular is NYR related, so on the eve of our franchises' biggest day since '94, seems like a good time to share.

When the Rangers won the Cup in '94, after partying all night at MSG & various places in the city, my LIRR train home coming from Penn pulled in to the Auburndale Station at about 6:45am. Back then at that time of the day, nobody was traveling eastbound on the LIRR unless you were a conductor or an engineer, so when I got off the train, all the commuters on the opposite platform heading to work couldn't make sense of what my story was, but it was obvious something was amiss. I was wearing a suit, but it was clear I was not heading to a business meeting, & that I was in dire need of sleep & a pair of sunglasses.

After a 20 minute walk home which I was in no condition for, I had just enough time for 30 minutes of sleep, before I had to head back to the train to be back in the city at 9am. This was obviously the pre cell phone era, so since I was at the game, I hadn't been able to speak to my most of friends yet. As soon as I sit down at my desk, my office phone is ringing off the hook with everyone I know calling me anxious to talk about the night before. About a minute into each of those conversations, they all were like "WTF is wrong with you? Why aren't you fired up about the Rangers winning it all?!?" Only when I told them I walked in my front door at 7:00am did they understand why I was acting like a complete zombie. I was a smiling zombie, in desperate need of some advil. I digress...

This may be dumb but assuming Kakko pans out info like the idea of his size and play style making the Rangers “harder to play against” versus Hughes
Like maybe Hughs does turn out to be a better player I dunno but a big skilled player like Kakko could be a bigger help in the playoffs
Add in Lafs style of play and hopefully it starts to come together

I think Hughes and Kakko will produce at same rate over careers.

Hughes plays more important position, so he will carry more "value" but Kakko will be the more effective player.

If there is one thing I trust this management with, its working their rears of by calling anyone and everyone and exploring every angle. Strome's contract situation must be handled. Before the draft 2020 picks can be used as currency. Many teams have an urgency because they must re-ink RFAs, like Tampa.

At the same time, there is a tremendous amount of uncertainty. Will there even be hockey played this year? When will the season start? Many teams will want to finish negotiations with RFAs to know how much they have to spend.

My point is just, sure something can happen now, but it can as well happen in January and it could still be before the season even starts. I wouldn't say that there is no urgency, but its really divided.
