Not yet he's not. Even the first overall pick is not simply going to be handed a spot to be ZBad's wing. When he shows that he is knocking the door down, the conversation can be had. But until then, I would not be shocked if Lafrenière spends the entire year on the third line.

Disagree on Chytil. Largely his regular season play has show nothing that would have me believe that he is ready for anything other than the line that he is already on.

I wouldn't be surprised if Laf starts on the 3rd line. I'd be shocked if he was still there after the first dozen games of the season. As for Chytil, the part of the regular season you are looking at is the part where he was playing with Howden and a burnt-out Kakko. I'm looking at the stretches where he played with talent on his wings, and he did quite well. It's a judgement call, and definitely debatable, but I believe he is ready based on the limited runs I've seen of him playing with top talent.

That 3rd round pick is a really important part of this trade because I get to laugh at how Montreal had to add in a Domi trade after being told by Habs fans they're not trading Domi for anything other than a bonafide top 6 asset.
curious to see how they are gonna spin it.

Domi is going to end up being some kind of craiglist paper clip trading tree. One malcontent in Arizona for a malcontent in Montreal and now a malcontent in Montreal for an down and out in Columbus.

If Anderson gets healthy enough to be in the lineup on the reg, this is a win for Montreal. I don't love Domi as a player really. When Anderson was healthy he had a very good season. Significantly more usable in the playoffs as well. This trade is more of an indictment of Max Domi's reptutation as a C around the league. Maybe he needs to become a winger?

Or another way of putting it is if Anderson can get Domi and a 3rd, imagine what Strome would fetch.
If Domi isn't even worth Anderson by himself, Strome has to be worth like a 3rd or 4th round pick.
Anderson is a lot less risky than Strome. He is an RFA with arb rights, but he made half as much as Strome last year and isnt coming off an anomalous boom season like Strome.

Absolutely agree. To me it feels like I am the only one around who is really really really high on Chytil. I actually believe he is a PPG player. And sooner rather than later. I really liked what I saw from him last season. Of course he is still very raw. But we are talking about a guy whose peers (most of them anyway) just spent their first season among pros in the lesser leagues or who are still marinating at college.

You aren’t the only one. I really like Chytil. He made some impressive plays at times this year. He shows flashes of elite skills at times. If he puts it together I still think he can be a 1B C for us. And he’s also still so young.

I don't think he has the playmaking for PPG but I'm high on him as well. He's scored some very high skill goals. Just needs consistency like many young players.

Really, wouldn't Domi be used as Wennberg's replacement?

I’m starting to come around on mavirik Bourque at 22. I had heard a few negative things about effort, his commitment to defend but he has high IQ is patient and literally had no help and still put up a lot of points.
