I'm still kind of surprised around the lack of moves league wide.

it's hard to accept but there's just no money. RFAs are being led straight to UFA, tons of available UFAs, no one needs to trade for players until they see what's available for cheap on the UFA market. I don't like it but it makes sense.

You guys have any idea what time #22 pick will be made, be flipping back and forth between the yanks.

What are you doing to fix it?

Strome scored 18 goals..... with Names on his line.

Lets not get carried away. Strome's numbers are inflated but he produced the year prior without Panarin... playing with Names and Fast.
They produced about the same that season, Names had more assists. And I doubt that Names was on the ice for all 18 of Strome's goals.

Namestnikov at 4 million and with less term got us all of a 4th round pick. I don’t see Strome beating that if on a multiyear at 4 million. And that’s if we’re lucky and don’t have to trade a pick just to get out of the contract.
To be fair Namestikov was awful with us

Yeah it reads oddly.

What I meant was he didn't live up to his contract but it didn't make him an overall bad player. Just not worth $4m.

Yeah I hear ya. I think that ship has sailed for him though. I'm guessing he probably would prefer to play elsewhere with the possibility of playing up in the lineup anyway.

They've come a long in the last 12-24 months. It looked all doom and gloom after they traded EK and gave up that top-5 pick.
For sure. they are really gonna have quite the prospect pool by tomorrow BUT they really need to add some decent players with some NHL experience throughout their lineup. I heard some crazy tidbit that even if they signed Hall and Pietrangelo they would still be very well below the Cap Floor.

The Strome hate on here has gotten out of control. He can be a very frustrating player, but he was no worse than competent as our 2C last year. The only valid reason to want him gone is because we should want to upgrade our roster when given the opportunity

.
Don’t be over dramatic. Nobody hates Strome. We are just being honest. He has greatly benefited playing with Panarin

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the bonus amounts get added to a team's salary total at season's end? Because, if so, it's like not a huge issue as long as we leave 1-2m in space at the start of the season.

The bigger issue is this cap on how much bonus money can be spent in a year -- 7.5m. It will force the Rangers to make sure they have enough cheap depth in the lineup to sit the kids or let them develop in Hartford.

We need to keep that in mind when people start complaining that the Jason Strudwicks of the world are playing while the K'Andre Millers are in the AHL.

This is a very nuanced conversation though and one we can't really have without getting bored. Suffice to say the team will need to find a balance between paying vets 1-2m AAV on this year's cap vs having bonuses roll over to next year and effecting next year's cap.

One positive side effect is the Rangers may need to gives kids like Reuschoff, Richards and Khodorenko some NHL time as well as less heralded young players like Hajek, Barron, Gettinger and Reunanen. It may be a financial necessity.
You can bet the mortgage that barron makes the team out of camp
