Dmen can take 4 5 years to be ready. You do need them always coming. Frankly behind Lundkvist we don’t even have another righty d that has an nhl future here or to use in a trade. Maybe skinner but that’s a stretch. Probably should start thinking about that soon.

I will say this if I’m Tampa I got my Cup I got it without stamkos I have Point Cirelli Gourde down the middle. I need to clear big money

I absolutely would be trying to trade him to keep my younger guys and keep trying to win. He’d be the guy I would be moving. Not cirelli not Gourde not Sergachev (unless was for a right shot qb)

I honestly think the smarest move, at this point, is moving him.

Even if you assume you're not getting a peak package for him, the guy scored 98 points in 2019 and scored at a 95 point pace this season. Someone is going to be willing to spend some capital on him.

I do believe that for many people, forwards are easier to fall in love with.

I tend to get that as well. My usual philosophy is to go with forwards in the first, and defensemen in the second, unless there's a noteworthy talent or a guy is clearly the BPA.

Guhle could be the BPA at 22. The challenge for some fans is going to be the rawness. He sort of resembles the player he could someday be, but there are moving parts right now.

There's nice offensive upside there and the potential to be a really attractive defenseman who plays in multiple situations. But you're drafting him for the player you think he's going to be 2-5 years from now, not necessarily because he's the best player in 2020.
It feels like them wanting a high second for strome this year would give them a decent shot at probably the last two dmen in their top 20

Curveball for you guys.

ADA signs for, I dunno, 5x5 tmr.

Fox is the RD that gets moved. I know. I know... Shocker....

It’ll never happen. Buutttt, let’s try and play this scenario out. What do you guys consider fair 1-1 value?

Please spare me the, “OMG DIE IT’LL NEVER HAPPEN” nonsense. I know how unlikely that scenario is. This hypothetical scenario is being presented because I can guarantee you Gorts has fielded calls on Fox. And, the fact that if you’re big-game hunting like Gorts has like it been, it’ll ultimately include some of our untouchables.

Just curious to who you guys see as fair compensation after his sensational rookie season.

Thinking out loud here - let’s say the offers for ADA are mediocre. But, some teams are offering a stupid return for Fox...?

Trouba
ADA
Lundkvist

That’s a damn fine RD group.

But for shits and giggles, let’s say Gorton gets an offer so ridiculous, that we have to settle for Trouba/ADA/Lundkvist longterm at RD.

What would you guys move Fox for straight up?

Id say Zegras. Or. Ottawa’s 3rd overall.
(Yes, I’ve been drinking and trying to think outside of the box).

Interesting. It gives the Rangers a really good first piece in a deal for Eichel!

I don't see them moving back at this time.
That would not make sense as there will be (should be) a decent amount of nuggets that should whet the appetite available.

Unless a guy that they like more than most begins to drop and they think that they can have him a bit later. But again, just reading the tea leaves, tend to doubt it.

The more I’ve read the more I like that Marat Kushnutinov. (Spelling).
An undersized highly skilled center. With grit.

The issue with Simmonds' fit with the Rangers is that he doesn't PK. If the organization is going to look outside for forward help, it should be a hard-nosed 2-way player who excels at PKing. They appear to have enough depth up front for PP time with Panarin, Zib, Kreider, Lafreniere, Kaako, Chytil, Strome (?), Buch

marcus. mf'ing. foligno.

I know he's probably not available but I'd prefer him sooooo much to players like Anderson.

Simmonds is good at one thing which is playing the net front on the PP. We already have Chris Kreider there.

he is good at fighting and playing with emotion, something this team does not to much off in my opinion. with all these kids, I hope we have more than just Lindgren Kreider and Lemieux that play with that grit and sticking up for teammates. with DeAngelo possibly gone that is one less that player with emotion on this team.

The team seriously considering a defenseman at 22 probably means they'd like a 2nd round pick to take one of those defenseman ranked in their top 20

I won't pretend to know if Guhle is/isnt worth taking at 22.

Is he considered more of a safe pick? Or is he a boom/bust type of guy?
He would be a good pick. There are NHL scouts that think he's the second best defenseman in this draft after Drysdale

He just might take a while to get here

I really like Guhle, i just dont think he would be BPA considering the forwards available. I would much rather try to teach Bourque or Perreault how to back check because they are already elite offensive threats. BPA aside LD is the LAST position we should be drafting for.
But those two have personality traits that management has seemed to want to stay away from. That is why I believe that players like Bourque, Perrault or Gunler are not making the cut for the Rangers. But who knows?

The Rangers philosophy, especially under Sather/Gorton, is to get their guy and go home. Don't get cute with the picks, don't gamble for what typically amounts to be a minimal reward. Just get your guy by any means necessary and live with the consequences of your decision.

This will be the first time they take a player from the Q in the first round in more than 40 years. So who knows what other trend-breakers we could see. But I think you're more likely to see the Rangers draft two players from Q in this year's first than you are to see the team trade down.
