I never attach myself to players.

I dont not appreciate what he's done for this franchise, when he retires, he will always be a NYR Legend with his number rightfully hoisted to the rafters, but now, as an active ex-NYR, I dont care where he goes or what happens to him
Some players I guess I am similar. Other players I am the opposite.

Guys from recent memory like Hank and Cally, I was pretty hurt when the news came down. I get very attached to players that pour their heart and soul into being a Ranger. I appreciate it a lot as the franchise has meant so much to me over the course of my life. Can't help but get emotional about it.

So you're 8 a.m. update is that there's really no news or surprises right now.

Rangers continue to talk to teams, but there's some hesitation around the NHL to do deals before the draft. Doesn't make it impossible, just means there are a lot of discussions that are on hold for right now.

Rangers did supposedly gauge interest from Montreal, Chicago and Edmonton about their picks. It's safe to assume it came up with Calgary as well.

Defenseman is definitely in play at 22, depending on which forwards come off the board. I've got a better idea of the Rangers top 20, which I can go into detail post-draft.

Probably the most interesting thing for today is that the Rangers top 20 has 6 defensemen in it.

A lot of silence around Strome, which is a little weird.

San Jose expressed interest in Geogiev until the last, but was not willing to trade their higher second round pick for him. It's possible they offered a 2021 second, but the Rangers weren't terribly interested in that right now.
You sure you want to poke your head up, @Edge?

In all seriousness, thanks for the updates. Makes the work day go by a little faster.

Bob father has noted that tampa does not have stammer listed as untouchable and is presumably listening to offers to move him. I'm not advocating, just sharing
And why not? The team won the Cup without him, other then one goal he scored. He's on a decent AAV but he cannot seem to stay healthy. If injuries plague him you can always put him on LTIR but it would be similar to the Marc Staal deal. Tampa should expect to add on a sweetener and get back next to nothing, maybe a B-level prospect.

If NYR can't move up, do you think they try and move back in the 1st round and try and grab a 2nd?

Isn’t that part of being a fan???

I'm with you, I cheer for the Rangers first and the players second. It angers me more to see ex-Rangers hoist the Cup on other teams; when Mcdonagh and Shattenkirk won, I felt nothing. When Gaborik won, I was definitely angry but that was also because the Kings were gifted wins by the refs. Hagelin winning with the Penguins? Nothing. And don't me started on Pascal Dupuis winning in Pittsburgh.

this tells me that Kaiden Guhle is probably the pick at 22 which will upset a lot of this board.
If there aren't legit centers at 22, which is almost 100% the case, I am totally fine with defensemen. Can never have enough centers and D.

Hes no longer NYR property, don't care where plays.

Don't care if he wins, loses or retires.

Not going to root for him, not wishing g he fails either.

Hes nothing more than another ex-teammate in a long line of them.
LOL he carried this franchise for the entirety of his career. If we catch a break in 14 or 15 he's considered immortal here and one of the best goalies ever. But "he's nothing more than an ex-teammate..." Unless he goes to Pitt, NJ or NYI I want him to get his cup. We're not talking about Jesper Fast here, we're talking about one of the greatest Rangers of all time.

I'll be very happy with that. However we would need to start moving on from some of our D prospects and also throw guys into the fire.

If we were to seriously discuss Stamkos, what would TBL trade him for? I can't imagine it being for more than B prospect + Young Bottom 6 NHL forward + 2nd round pick? Or am I way off? Just feel like the combo of the injury history + contract term and amount will limit the return there quite a bit.

McDonagh was captain and my favorite player, so I was very happy he won the Cup. The others I didn't really care about.

Of course the Rangers have 6 d-men in the top 20 of a draft year widely viewed as being light on defensemen.

At least most of the guys I could see being that high are from areas we're pretty good at scouting. 5 of them have to be Sanderson, Drysdale, Guhle, Schneider, and Wallinder. A US kid, two kids from The Dub, and a Swede. No chance at Drysdale. All scouting strengths. The 6th is tricky unless they're not concerned at all about Barron's injuries.

If you want to fall asleep to Floyd, The Final Cut has to be the most boring and sleep inducing album of all-time. That thing is like a case of Ambien.

Not Now John isn't bad. But the rest is pretty terrible. They all hated each other so much at that point.
