I would give absolutely zero f***s about this years first round pick if we won a cup and Kane was a major part of it.
Lol if we won the cup this year and Kane didn’t score a single point I wouldn’t give a f*** about any first round picks for the next 5 years are you kidding me . Cup > everything

Man was looking at that Andrew copp deal. He’s basically got the Trocheck cap hit. 2 less years but he puts up 6 goals 35 pts in 59 games? Thank god we passed on that. Best hockey he’s ever played was the stretch after the deadline as a Ranger
Yeah when i saw his line the other night i thought he had to be out half the year... what the heck

I have a feeling that 2nd is conditional.

Its possible Kane slow played it and said ill only go if its a 1st. He was said to have wanted a first in the deal for him. Negotiated to a conditional if the Rangers win it all.

Gives him extra incentive to go out and earn something for his old team too.

From Drury's perspective, fine - a Cup for the 32nd pick? Fine with it.
we have Dallas' pick this year not ours. If we win the cup St. Louis will get that pick.

I wanted Copp but Trocheck is a much better player and fills more needs. Never thought he would be a Ranger.

I'm still stuck with the old Rangers ways

Not surprised. Regardless of intent, it happened. Don't want him to be known as The Spitter of Midtown forever.

Look at his Winnipeg numbers this is basically who he is. Guy went off as a Ranger. Got overpaid badly but no one will ever question Yzerman

Trocheck is a light years better player than strome or copp

If Copp went off in that position what will Kane do?

I know they started Copp in the middle but didnt he wind up playing wing mostly?

This is what I was saying about this deadline vs. last

Copp
Vatrano
Motte
Braun

Kane
Tarasenko
Motte
Mikkola

You have upgrades in every spot that fit in so nicely last season. Albeit they were fortunate to get out of the series against the Pens, Canes took them to 7. Its never easy and you need some bounces along the way. But 1 for 1, its upgrades all around. Major upgrades. Vesey / Gauthier too

The Rangers look like the late 90s-early 2000s Red Wings on paper with all the star power. Hopefully they can perform like them.
It's insane the amount of talent on this roster right now. There's not a single player to complain about not being an NHL player.

We had Blais, Carpenter, Lesychyn... now we have Kane and Tarasenko.

Vesey drops from the 2nd line to 4th where he belongs.

Where's the weakness up front?

Mikkola and Harpur our top 4 LDs for the next 3 games. At least Kane and Tarasenko will have no choice but to play D because there won't be any outlet passes coming any time soon.

Who the heck is going to be our other defender?

Can we call up Robertson or Jones?

My timeline, untouched. Thought it was funny:

You can elbow another player in the head. Nothing.

0 consistency of message from the league when it comes to these suspensions, but in a vacuum the punishment fits the crime. Don't really care that he apologized, because that shouldve been a requirement. Players need to be able to control their stick...I mean spit.

I'll add that hopefully Trouba had a conversation with K'Andre about this. The teams is in a difficult spot roster wise and now we'll be without a key player for basically 4 games. Dumb and unnecessary, but he's young and will learn from it.

3 for Miller seems right based on precedent (ignoring the Stamkos let off), but it is always frustrating to see what Player 'Safety' turns a blind eye too compared to what what they suspend for

Behind the bench? That's my main concern. Can Gallant get the most our of this group? We are going to find out.

Idk if Tarasenko needs a great passer. He definitely needs help transporting the puck up ice and forechecking to maintain or turn over possession, but his whole career he's been a guy who needs less room, less angle, less help entirely when it comes to scoring goals. He's never really had a one timer, he's a guy who likes to fade out and then appear again.

I like him with Chytil and Laf for those reasons. But I don't like him anywhere if he won't shoot the puck. I know I've been harping on this but it's really significant to me. He needs to get back to being a volume shooter, shoot from anywhere, score from anywhere player.
We can hope. He's fighting a team culture of making the perfect play. He can really zip the puck from anywhere, like a rich man's Vatrano that we saw last year. Now that the top 6 is a proverbial All-Star team, I imagine they'll think it's more showtime than ever.
