They have had their share of adds. Let’s not get it twisted. They drafted really well with their top 10 picks. But they have added guys like kadri, burakosky , donskoi, nictuskin, etc thru outside means

Yes, but they are not core pieces. They are the kind of pieces you pick up to complement your core, exactly what the Rangers need to do next.

Yup. I have no problem upgrading at 2c and signing goodrow or trading for a guy like Crouse

Colorados rebuild was excruciatingly long and it took MacKinnon becoming a top 3 player in the world for it to bear any fruit. they are atrocious drafters outside of the top 10 and it took them trading away three very high end pieces to get where they are now in ROR, Duchene, and Barrie.

they’re really not a model i want to follow, 12 years and they have one second round exit to show for it

RE: Colorado.

Rangers fans absolutely do not have the patience for this:

A 112 point finish immediately followed by three straight playoff misses (including 1 historically bad, 48 point season)? People were shitting their pants that we missed this year, a year where we had a reasonable shot at making it!

Either people don’t/didn’t really know how rebuilds work, or they drank the kool aid from last year that oUr WiNdOw iS lAf AnD KaKkO’s ElC yEaRs.

Hell, it took Tampa 12 & 11 years from drafting Stamkos and Hedman 1st and 2nd overall until they actually won the cup. With only one other trip to the finals in that time frame!

The delusion that this rebuild will be a failure if we don’t win multiple cups needs to end yesterday. The teams that won multiple cups since the cap (Chicago, LA, Pittsburgh) did so entirely on the back of elite players signed to reasonable contracts that aren’t even legal anymore. If we had Adam Fox, Artemi Panarin, and Chris Kreider locked up at low cap hits for 13 years then I could understand it, but it’s a hard league to win multiple titles in.

Yes, OBVIOUSLY the Rangers have to follow Coloroado's rebuild step by step. It is not possible at all to look at CONTEXT.

I don’t think the fourth line needs an upgrade, except maybe at right wing.

What we need to do is build a team like Colorado that has three relatively solid scoring lines, but also has strong star power. We had balance the last run but not the top end skill.

Part of filling out three scoring lines just entails waiting for Kravstov Kakko and Lafreniere to develop offensively. Patience is the name of the game and just hope that Panarin and Zibanejad age well.

We’ve got a very good team brewing if we don’t get impatient. I’m game for adding some veterans for next season but don’t commit to any of them for too long such that we get locked into contracts and block youth development
So like don't fire your GM and architect of the rebuild along with your president of 1.5 yrs then?

Goodrow and Coleman will absolutely be targets.

Lets not be trading any luxury vehicles for jeeps.
We had team of interchangeable third line Jeeps for a decade with the very flawed high end vehicles
And Hank dragging them kicking and screaming all the way.

Vancouver has like $15 million on space so just enough to sign 2-3 more bottom sixers to five year $4.5 million deals :)

I kid but what makes a great front office is not so much identifying the Colemans and Goodrows who will get paid, but finding the Prusts and Fedotenkos at a fraction of the cost with nearly the same impact.

I’m concerned what Coleman gets as a UFA, but I get the feeling a guy like Nosek goes undervalued based on the marketplace.
Goodrow is my first target out of the two. I think he is a must get because of his great versatility.

Coleman can play either wing.

I want 2-3 of

Goodrow
Coleman
Nosek
Bonino
Cizikas
Boyle
Kuraly (i think he is a FA)

And there is even way more on that list.

Looking at that chart....I would call the season past our version of their 48pt one . We never had to bottom out like they had to . We easily enough could have been in the playoffs this season if we had of had half the luck in good rather than it all in bad luck this past season . That also does not figure in the poor coaching we had . We just endured a very bad season where just about everything that could go wrong and then some....did . We change the mix a wee bit and we will be fine next season over 82 games with our kids and new coach and without Russian interference and or player personality conflicts . The inexperience factor will be lessened and the beef will get a wee upgrade .....rest easy guys....the bad stuff is in our rear view mirror. We only have one worry, Mr Dolan.

sure is. There’s a bunch of guys. Add Lawson Crouse, Ryan Hartman, Scott Laughton, Derek Ryan, Ryan Grant, Noesek, Reaves, Trenin, Jarnkrok, Copp, Appleton, etc Ottawa has some interesting bottom sixers. And that’s not even mentioning the College UFA route or giving guys like Richards or Ruesschoff a shot in our system

Exactly this. The next step is up to management and the pro scouting. The Goodrows are looking for their money contracts now, so what's needed is to find the next generation of competent bottom six players rather than just go for name recognition.

It's going to cost a lot so one is more realistic. Would love Bonino, should have signed him four years ago. The question is, what does he want and does he want to come back to the East Coast close to him?

Jack Eichel’s Artificial Disc Conundrum (msn.com)
The more I read about Eichel's neck injury the more I see that Buffalo must trade him now or they'll never get a solid return again. Whoever makes the mistake of trading for him will regret it almost instantly. When you're at the point of even considering an experimental prosthetic that's never been done to a hockey player (or even a contact sport athlete), you know the injury is severe.

Think MMA guys have got it done. But never a NHL player
