Yeah I think the Rangers would look for more in addition to Ekholm not a 1 for 1. I don't think the Preds will want prospects or picks for him but who knows. If they do, possibly something around Jones and a 2nd for Ekholm and a 4th.

Buch if they just signed him for his last RFA year, something that is basically guaranteed if they qualify him, will be worth about what say Nash or Hayes were worth next deadline. 1st and pretty good prospect. I'd take that over one year of Ekholm.

I am not a scout, but contract wise I'd look for Logan Stanley, Juuso Valimakiin in terms of value. If not, 1st and decent prospect. Does not mean they need to keep those futures, could use them to make another trade, add to them, use different ones, etc.

I think a deal revolving around Buch and Ekholm makes sense for both teams.

Would love to add Ekholm and Jarnkrok. I’m looking at bottom 6 guys that are out there, there’s a bunch I would love on this team. Crouse, Copp, goodrow, Laughton, Hartman, Grant, Ryan, Christian Fischer might be an interesting reclamation project. Looks as if Hayton has fallen out of favor in Arizona. Would you guys do Buchnevich for Hayton+ Crouse? Tempting. Looks like the Yotes are going with Dvorak and Schmaltz as their top 2 centers. Seems like Hayton has fallen out of favor. Would he be excited to leave the desert for NY? Thoughts?

Ekholm and Buchnevich as the core of a larger deal makes a lot of sense. A lot. I think the Rangers would want more given the age disparity. That could be arranged.

Hayton has fallen out of favor in Arizona because he hasn’t played very well. He was essentially handed a top nine role this year and couldn’t cut it. He’s well on his way to being a Lias level bust. Crouse is the only sandpaper the Coyotes have. Don’t see a match here.

I still think the Rangers have a great opportunity to upgrade their third defense and seventh forward protection spot in the expansion draft. Something sooner than later makes a ton of sense to me.

Totally agree. It depends where their management thinks they’re at. Do they tear it all up or can they tweak it?
