Yeah, he is an Islanders fan. He has written articles like that recently. To his credit, he didn't choose to cover the Rangers at the Athletic. He became the "New York Area" reporter when Rick Carpiniello left. Before that he just did the Islanders.

I agree this is the optional lineup but I wouldn’t wave Carpenter. He’s been a good PKer and we’re thin at center if Goodrow needs to move up in the lineup due to injury.

It's pretty sad we don't have anyone in Hartford who's better than carpenter. The guy stinks.

TBH I kinda like that Kreider-Goodrow-Vesey line. Looks like a nice matchup line on paper

I think when the lineups healthy, trochek is a better fit there and he brings that speed.

Goodrow slides in with blais and Gauthier on a pretty good fourth line on paper

I don't think it's that the vets are behind in the current trends. When they're playing well they attack the net with speed and creativity. When they're playing poorly they don't support each other and have nowhere to go with the puck. Even Panarin was doing a much better job attacking the middle of the ice earlier this season. That all kinda fell apart when Gallant mixed up the lines and the team started struggling. Now players are playing more tenative, with less support of each other, and doing more "fling the puck somewhere and hope it makes it through to a teammate" rather than creating a play

It's all the same shit but you see teams like the Devils playing with confidence and as a unit, and the Rangers playing tentative and isolated. The moment the Rangers get soem confidence and play as a unit they'll suddenly look dangerous again

I disagree. Generally I don't think our vets attack the net at all. Kreider stands in front and screens, who else attacks the net? Not panarin, not zib, trocheck is shifting to a high slot player and not a net player, who attacks the net out of the vets?

The kids should stay on the first line and see what they’re made of. Sink or swim. The success of the team is tied to their ascension.

Also I think with all the talk of getting another forward, I think it’s pretty clear that getting another reliable defenseman needs to happen sooner than later.

Something to remember…a few years ago Chytil and Kreider played together (I think Mika was hurt) and they were very productive together. There may be some there there.
