I don't know if Gallant doesn't like Mollie, but no one likes Brooks. It is not like he is just a neutral reporter, he is actively a fan of a large rival. His articles are clearly written to sow doubt in the Rangers locker room, their coaching staff, to get under their young players skin, to question the leadership of their captains. He is a bad person and his articles are f***ing trash. If anyone should no longer be allowed in room it is Brooks.

I don’t see brooks as a fan of another team. I see him as someone who doesn’t seem to understand that hockeys changed and he longs for the glory days of the 1980’s.
He doesn’t understand puck possession, because he can only look at a scoresheet to understand how a game is going now.
He’s like my grand father needing to be told if someone’s winning.

Lafreniere- Zibanejad - Kakko
Panarin - Chytil - Kravtsov
Kreider - Trocheck - Vesey
Blais/Brodzinski - Goodrow - Gauthier

Waive Carpenter. Get the Kids powerplay time. Don't touch these combos until after the Trading Deadline.

My change here could be rolling Gauthier on the 3rd line. You want to talk about a line that would be able to pin teams in their own zone with speed and size, this would be it. Plus, it gets me closer to the ideal 4th line I've wanted in Blais-Goodrow-Vesey that could be used more in a shutdown roll. I'd prefer to upgrade Blais for someone faster since Vesey and Goodrow already have good size. Rydahl would be a good option to try there. Brodzinski fits better there than Blais does.

Gallant loves Mollie. She's the only one that can get answers from him and he ends it with a smile.

Old school man, a teddy bear to women. If anything they should get her to ask the tough questions

I'd want O'Reilly for 2C and Krug for 2LD
I'm willing to part with a few draft picks.

I was just going to post, how much would he cost?

say we go on and rip 10 wins in a row ( unlikely, i know )

Laffy Zibs Kakko - lets be real, Gallant will not stay with the kids at the top.
Kreider RO'R Chytil - love this line
Panarin Tro Kravtsov

then add a vet LHD

RoR is gonna cost a first and a prospect at the minimum. And unless they're eating 50% we cant afford him until the deadline. Chytil hasn't shown much as a winger, and he's earned the 2c spot at this point.

I think gallant got shown that the kids can play with jump and speed if he gives them the chances. That line last night showed how a top nhl line looks in terms of controlling play.
Now we just need panarin to start generating at the same clip.

I'd love a line of Panarin-O'Reilly-Tank

Sure. But sather might like drury, but drury absolutely followed gorton and cut brooks out hard.
Brooks has no contacts within the org who have real info anymore, and he rages about it. As opposed to doing real journalism

I love Tank as a target. I doubt he brings back a first, and anything lower than that is well within the Rangers price range. He's not the player he once was but he's still a good top 6 guy willing to drive the net and get his hands dirty. Doesn't hurt that he's a Russian (for Panarin & VK) and Cup winner

There system has been the vets just doing whatever they want and continuing to allow it. That is my point. The vets here are 7-10 years behind the current trends of offense for players as they come up. I dont think brunette walked into nj and taught them how to play offense. their team last year was just bad defensively and had awful goaltending. you clean up your d and have improved goaltending and it makes a huge difference. their offense was very good last year and they made more additions to the forwards which pushed players down the lineup and made the forwards deeper. that is part of why they are so much better this year too.

I don't think it's that the vets are behind in the current trends. When they're playing well they attack the net with speed and creativity. When they're playing poorly they don't support each other and have nowhere to go with the puck. Even Panarin was doing a much better job attacking the middle of the ice earlier this season. That all kinda fell apart when Gallant mixed up the lines and the team started struggling. Now players are playing more tenative, with less support of each other, and doing more "fling the puck somewhere and hope it makes it through to a teammate" rather than creating a play

It's all the same shit but you see teams like the Devils playing with confidence and as a unit, and the Rangers playing tentative and isolated. The moment the Rangers get soem confidence and play as a unit they'll suddenly look dangerous again

Listening to Mollie's podcast last week, her and the host seem to think her relationship with him is not so great. I only heard the one outburst he had towards her last season, but she made it sound like it's happened a few times.

He probably just doesn't like the NY Post if anything, and I can't say I blame him.

Whats interesting is that the NHL is such a B sport locally.... and such an intensity of the reporting

Ive definitely heard him snap at her a couple times.
The post reporters seem like theyre encouraged to ask really bad questions to get reactions.
Shes tried to get him to call out players last year, and everyone could tell he's never going to do that.

The Post has opinions about the team and asks loaded questions fishing for quotes that support their opinions. Mollie comes from the School of Brooks. It’s not journalism.

The other beats are lax in the opposite direction, and are just willing extensions of the Rangers PR machine. That said, Vince recently grew a spine and started asking tough questions.

I wouldn't expect 2/3's of that second line to play consistently over any period of time.

Matter of fact, I'd bank on it not happening. So once one of them get a boo boo, the lines get thrown into a blender of vomit.

I agree this is the optional lineup but I wouldn’t wave Carpenter. He’s been a good PKer and we’re thin at center if Goodrow needs to move up in the lineup due to injury.

Arthur Staple also a fan of Ranger’s rival, no?
IMHO, he also seems to write articles that might cause distress to the organization.
