Karlsson, a two time norris winner, currently the favorite and a hart contender this year... The sharks want to move him and the player wants to be moved. And nobody can even speculate a workable trade scenario.

But somehow we're getting out from under Panarin??

I think you could move Panarin to Anaheim, but don’t think there are many other spots for him. They are the only team that has sensible needs, cap room and contracts they can send back. Probably off-season move though. You take Henrique and/or Silverberg back, get a future asset or two, and you get to reset the cap Summer 2024.

Anaheim knows Panarin and Strome work, they have the ELC centers like Zegras and McTavish to help alleviate that cap hit. Maybe Panarin would waive for California. Maybe Rangers need to eat some cap but again, not a lot of spots for Panarin

Here's a fun one:

To Boston
Kreider + Carpenter

to NYR:
Debrusk + Foligno + BOS 1st '23 + 3rd '23

To EDM:
Debrusk + Gettinger

to NYR:
Puljujaarvi + Janmark + EDM 1st '23 + 3rd '23

Lineup:
Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kaako
Panarin-Chytil-Puljujaarvi
Foligno-Trochek-Kravtsov
Blais-Goodrow-Gauthier
Janmark, Vesey

Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Schneider
Hajek-Trouba

Not a bad idea, though I think I would prefer Lysell over their first if they were willing to do that. Lysell could be nyr 3rw next season. Also adds speed to the team.

The absolute only way Panarin is moved is for a cornerstone piece. Is it possible? Sure, I guess.

The hate for him has grown immensely. Everyone is looking for someone to lash out at.

When EVERYONE on the team sucks, maybe there's a much bigger problem? and the players that are struggling are just the symptoms of it.

Panarin is a top5 talent. What are we trading him for? Draft picks? no. The logical course of action is to get the team in order, coaching is the major problem. This team needs it's hand held... They need to be told what to do and how to do it. If Gallant still thinks he's dealing with men from the 80-90's, therein lies a part of the problem.

The kids are not being taught anything. Their skills have deteriorated. It's now apparent in our vets too. Something has to change.

Something around Pana and Tarasenko?

STL is in a funk similar to ours.

It's a plausible conversation.

not challenging you but genuinely curious how did you read the trouba presser? not the edited version but the live one with the full pause and all the comments? I took that as a guy calling out teammates and his coach.

I also think it would be hard for turk to lose the team as Nielsen did bc turk is a players coach through and through for his guys. Nielsen lost the team bc a top 10 all time player was traded here and he hated Roger and got him fired. Not really the same circumstance at all in my eyes.
He was definitely calling out people starting with himself. I was fine with it.

Never say never but I'm highly skeptical Panarin is going anywhere anytime soon.
Panarin would have to be an off-season trade but he’s definitely on the clock after last years playoffs.

That Kaplan report was from last week. These are professionals. They don’t need Gallant to baby them. So stupid. These players are getting paid millions of dollars.

I heard 32T. They barely mentioned the Rangers. Friedman said many of the Rangers key players haven’t gotten going. He said Rangers fans are asking him about Trotz. There is nothing going on with Trotz. He mentioned Dolan making the changes two seasons ago. What is Dolan thinking was Friedman’s view of the Rangers. They brought up the Trouba hit in the Chicago game. It’s a clean hit. Luke Richardson thought it was a clean hit. He played that way. The game has changed and these new guys are want to start a war over a clean hit. The Hawks players were mad because they are stupid. Hockey is a contact sport. Go watch basketball 🏀.

It’s ridiculous. The Rangers fans are the same way. Pastrnak hit Lindgren after Lindgren hit Patrnak. So many people said it was a dirty hit. Clean hit. The Rangers should beat up Pastrnak. No. It’s hockey.

It's the NHL video game generation. Get your bell rung cleanly, start a fight or a line brawl. That's what's done. Doesn't work that way in the real thing. Same way enforcer "deterrents" are a fallacy that don't and never have existed.

Should have called up Cuylle or Trivingo instead of some AHL scrub with no Rangers future. Cuylle is also good on faceoffs. He takes draws on the PK and PP, he did in juniors and in the past.

The easiest route is to get Panarin back to his roots. His 2019-2020 season. He showed flashes of it to start this year.

What happened? That player is still there, the coaching staff is doing little if anything to help the situation.

It's funny how fast narratives change, the flip flopping is generational.
This is the answer. He's not getting traded unless he asks out, which he's most likely not going to.

This guy was a true alpha of a player in Columbus and in his first 1.5 years here. He was dominant every shift.

You need to fix Panarin. All this talk about trading him (with money retained lmao as if retaining almost 6m a year for multiple seasons is anything remotely resembling a good idea) is pointless.

He was a player who was attacking every shift, always trying to beat players and make creative decisions with an EXTREMELY varied approach which is what made him so hard to defend, not only the talent and vision but he was so unpredictable. He was also a puck hound when he didn't have it, i remember marveling at his forechecking and how relentless he was when he didn't have the puck. Now he's taking 2 minute shifts and lollygagging back to the bench.

He's obviously gotten complacent and stale, his issues are between his ears. Sad to say, not that I would've wanted him specifically, but Torts is the perfect coach for a guy like Panarin. Gallant gives him too much freedom and leeway and a guy who freelances as much as Panarin does needs to have structure around him and instilled in him to be able to freelance off of. If you're just freelancing all the time, it turns into what he's been the last year: a guy who looks like he's aimless and floating and not trying half the time.

Maybe Kane wouldnt be the Worst idea in tbe world if it make Panarin get his shit togeather

Boston isn't moving any roster players, they are the best team in the entire world right now.

Kreider is the one vet I wouldn't trade. Just start playing him as the 3LW that he is.

32 thoughts podcast had a good chunk of Rangers talk. Nothing doing with Trotz as of yet, but has some serious concerns with Dolan (shocker).
Why do we want Trotz again?

The coach who stapled Leo Komarov to Mat Barzal?

Until winning the cup with the Caps in his last year (a year in which everyone in the organization wanted him gone, the team just went on a lucky run that spring) he was looked at as a good coach who could never get his teams over the hump. He literally had never made it out of the 2nd round in almost 20 years until he won the cup.

Then he takes an Islanders team with basically no talent and plays boring hockey which leaning on all of his veterans and takes them to two arguably fluke bullshit ECF runs (covid seasons, one in the bubble, other in the division only format). Then he gets fired for not getting the most out of his forward talent or developing kids.

Do we really want him? Is he really the right guy?

I want Quenneville or someone that plays that style.... ie. 2023 NHL hockey

what is quenneville's style? genuine question. I read people keep saying we want this coach or whatever but why? To me it is less about stylistic and more about accountability and playing team structure. I dont even care what the structure is right now I just want the accountability and for them to play as a group rather than the disjointed free for all that is this team right now.

The issue is both Drury and Turk were/are locker room guys in the sense they are built around the concept of the vets and players handle it in the room and they will be ready to play. The issue is the players here who are your core aren't those type of guys. Trouba certaining has shown his willingness, but wtf does panarin give for leadership? Kreider is great with the media and he will give stick taps at the end of each period but he has always had consistency issues and even now when he struggles he rarely uses his speed or forecheck to open ice for others. zib is a wonderful scorer and i think when he is going it shows through the team, but i view him more as a symbol of how the team unit is operating then I do look at him as a driver or a guy that manages the room. Right now I see trouba and goodrow, and for as much as people think i hate trocheck I think he is one of those guys that brings the same game most nights and is ready to play, but i maintain he is miscast in the role here.

Trouba is clearly an alpha in that room, but who else is?

If players are having fun and buying in/producing, it goes a long way. This club still needs a hardass to break the terrible habits... whether it's the Head Coach or the Assistants.

We want Trotz because we need to get a system and identity in place. Rangers need to get back to basics. Trotz system is less reliant on speed which is good because Rangers are slow. Rangers best player is the goalie and Trotz will get the Rangers better defensively which helps the goalie

Before everyone mails it in, Rangers are only 2 points behind the Wings for the 2nd Wildcard. There's another 56 regular season games remaining.

florida hockey was fun in the reg season and did what in the playoffs? i expect nj to repeat that as well if they follow the script, but again what exactly is that style? winning? someone tell me an actual style you want? good coaches adjust to what they have on the roster so just saying I want coach X means nothing bc coach X is going to coach differently in colorado then they would in phili...
