Go get an actual bottom pair D-Man or just give Jones another chance. Schneider has no chance out there with Harpur.

225 d-men have played at least 170 min 5 on 5.

Harpur's xGF% 32.28% (225 out of 225 dmen).

Harpur's 40.06 CF% (222 out of 225, shout out Jarred Tinordi at 223).

If they are going to trade 1st round pick, not something I really want to see, it should be for players who are youngish and show promise. Why not see what Philly wants for Frost or Tippett? Flyers seem to have no idea what they are doing. Maybe they don't know what they have in Brink? 2nd or 3rd round picks, Allison, sans injury, he has potential.

I would not mind trading a 1st round pick to some teams around the league for some of the world juniors players that have played in pressure situations before.

id trade a 1st and 2ed and other picks. for Chaz Lucius, Joshua Roy, Rutger McGroarty, David Jiricek, Brandt Clarke, David Spacek, etc

With Kane being injured & if he wants to come here then maybe we can get lucky and get him for pennys on the $. I’d be interested in that case as long as he’s a rental

Tolvanen would have been such a good fit. He would have been great depth at the wing. Seattle did an amazing move claiming him, they are quietly having a pretty impressive season.

6 points in 7 games for Seattle playing on the 3rd line. Seemed like such an obvious pickup when he was on waivers. f***ing annoying they didn’t claim him

They better stay far the f*** away.
The Kane stuff is more national media driven than the New York media.

The Rangers beat writers aren't pushing the Kane stuff. Mollie. Vince. They downplay the Kane stuff. The Rangers need another top 6/9 forward but someone other than Kane. They have discussed it on their podcasts. Brooks hasn’t mentioned Kane in a while. He was talking about ROR last week.

The national media guys write/discuss Kane will get an extension as part of the trade. The Rangers don't have space for that. KAM is pushing for a big contract. Even a 2-3 year bridge deal will be expensive.

Vince was discussing Miller reaching 50 points or Kakko reaching 25 goals on his podcast. Which one will occur? Miller reaching 50 points is more likely. Maybe he won't get 50 but he will come close with the way he is playing right now after a tough start to the season.

The contract stuff comes from Frank and LeBrun. Maybe Kane will get a contract extension as part of the trade. Kane isn’t looking to take a big cut. Good luck.

The Rangers need another top 6/9 forward and a LHD. Maybe even an upgrade for the 4th line. Get a little bigger and heavier. This isn't last season where the Rangers had $30M of accrued cap space at the deadline. The Rangers could include Blais's $1.5M in a deal to make the cap work.

Can the Rangers acquire a player who can actually help them? The Rangers using their cap space and assets for a player who can't contribute isn't a good deal.

Other players will be available. The Rangers want to win a Cup. Two months of high pressure and intense hockey. Kane admitted to two injuries. Bad hip and the new injury in the same area.

Even if the Rangers can acquire Kane for the Hall to Boston deal, what good is it if he can't be a productive player?

$5.25M at 50%. Most of the Rangers accrued space will go to Kane. They still have other needs to fill. They still need to leave room to operate the team with 40 days left in the regular season. Double retention means paying another team to retain money. This Kane deal becomes an expensive deal and we don't know if the player will be a healthy productive player.

He wouldn't get any of the PP time here that he's getting there and at 5v5 he would be either getting minimal time in the bottom six or displace Kravtsov. And he would cost more money and lessen their deadline cap space. He was not really a fit.

Maybe instead of importing defenders, they should just keep developing them?

Instead of trading for any defender, why not see what happens with Robertson who will be in his last entry level year next season? If he takes a similar trajectory as Schneider, it's be a lot better to utilize him than to trade assets for some other more cap expensive defender who will need a new contract in a couple years.
Robertson should be getting some nhl games in now incase we need him in playoffs, not sure why that hasn't happened yet. It's fairly obvious that the team feels Jones is too small and maybe too offense first of a player for that 3rd pair.

If he is not ready, he is not. I do not follow the Pack so I don't have any good insight.

My post was more about why would they bring in a defender who would cost a lot in assets to trade for when they have plausible options already.

A cheap 3rd pair vet rental I'd understand for like a 3rd or 4th, yet someone more expensive they can't keep long term given the cost of Fox, Trouba, and soon Miller, under the cap just does not fit.

I dislike rentals which require 1st round picks or young players/prospects, the deadline in my opinion should be more about guarding against injury than it should be about changing the whole dynamic of the team that got them into playoff position in the first place.

Jones is done here. I know no inside info but just look at the "progress" since he was sent down. Gallant doesn't see much in him.

Robertson they may lose patience with like Ryan Graves.

They need to figure out cap situation for next year. I dont think they will get extension done until cap is announced.

Big difference if cap goes up 1m or 4m.

Especially since Chytil, Laf and Krav all need contracts too.

Cant box yourself in to allow those players to be poached.

I'd there any timeline when we can expect the cap for next season?

Krav & Laf are easy

Tippet has a 1.5 mil cap hit this year and next. Frost is a pending RFA who will get a raise. We probably can't afford either one unless we move out other players. Our priority needs to be getting our own RFAs signed.

And even if we can afford one of them, where are they playing? Whose ice time are we taking away?

Kevin Weekes on ESPN radio: “Patrick Kane has stated several times that he does not want to be a Leaf, and that he wants to go to a team that he feels actually has a chance at the Stanley Cup.” “Oilers, Rangers, and Caps are the top 3 teams on Kane’s list.”

3 Team per weeks.

Maybe he doesn't want to strip the club, or any club of too many assets so he's milking the injury to drive value down?

Interesting to see the Oilers and Caps on that list considering his dad's desire/insistence on being able to drive to games. Would've figured Boston would be on it.
