They'd have to turn around and trade him this summer but maybe that wouldn't be so bad. You'd be able to get back most of what you give up for him, especially if he has a strong run in the post season.

I'd love to add him and wish we had a way to keep him. He's an excellent player and provides pretty much everything that we need.
Yeah he's the guy to go after, perfect fit for this team in every way. I'd love to keep him long term but as you said if not then you could probably flip him and get at least some assets back even if it's not what you pay for him.

Seravalli wrote today that he expects the Rangers to be looking to add a dynamic top 6 forward. Obviously Kane was mentioned, he downplayed the injury, but talked about figuring out an extension for some reason. Then mentioned Brock Boeser and said he would only cost a 2nd round pick because of his contract. No idea what he thinks will happen with our cap situation. Mentioned a steady LHD partner for Schneider, but we all knew that.

Listed Othmann as a piece the Rangers could use in a trade. This is just a flashing signal to me that any of this input comes from a Chicago source - "we're exploring trading Kane there, would be targeting Othmann as a piece." Get real. Seravalli wants to be McKenzie, at this rate he'll never be close, has just been a mouthpiece for front offices every TDL.

Hate the idea of the Rangers trading their #1, or #2 prospect for a Rental player. Such a gamble for 20 games plus whatever playoffs you get. Cap implications are likely going to force them to do something like that however.

I reached out to some of the beat writers covering the AHL clubs in the NE. Asked them if any Hawks, or Blues scouts were in the building for any Wolfpack games. None, was the response. From Bridgeport to Springfield to Lehigh. I was thinking if the club truly is looking to trade prospects, plus picks NHL Scouts like maybe (Troy Brouwer STL, Alex Brooks Blackhawks) would be in watching either Jones, Cuylle or Robertson. Even reached out to event staff there. No dice. Only thing I could find was a connections between Tony Granato and Alex Brooks. Granato shouted him out for being Wisconsin Badger Alumni...So there is a connection there, but really just spitballing.

Personally i think there are too many expiring FA's on teams outside of playoff births. I think it will drive down the value. Also being a deeper draft maybe clubs are less likely to move a pick.

Drury has already shown he will roll the dice. Traded a 1st, and 2nd for Copp. A 4th for Vatrano.

With 2 1st rounders, a 3rd and 2 6th's, what is he willing to deal?

What does a Sammy Blais plus the NYR 3rd get you? What does Sammy Blais with NYR 1st get you? Maybe Hajek and the pick or picks?

Does Drury dangle Cuylle or Jones? Or a combo of those players with a 1st or a 3rd?

Seravaali wrote the Rangers can do a Kane deal without double retention. He is the worst when it comes to the cap stuff. He always says the cap is going up so teams will have money to spend. These teams have their own players to sign. The cap isn’t going up much. $1M or $3M if the players can make a deal with the league. It's just $2M more. It's not $10M. He has previously mentioned the Rangers giving Kane a new contract as part of the trade. Where are the Rangers finding the money? This guy is lost. Last summer Frank had the Rangers signing Kadri. Where were the Rangers finding the money?

The Rangers would need another team to retain on Kane if they want to add more than just Kane at the deadline. $5.25M cap.

It was a conditional 2nd which became a 1st. There were other teams in on Copp.

What does their deadline cap look like with out Blais and Kravtsov?

I don't think they're in on Kane as much as Seravalli or anyone wants us to believe (He'll end up in Buffalo IMO) but there are ways for them to open up more space.

These so called insiders will try and throw as many darts at a board as possible and hope one is right.

I would like to see Robertson up with the big club. Schneider & Miller have deeloped quickly at the NHL level despite reports they "werent ready". I dont think Hartford is the best place for him either. The Rangers really cant get it right down there.
It takes one game and one period to have the excitement of a new player wear off. Don't be selfish for YOUR instant gratification. Do what's best for the young man.

Kane isn’t playing tonight.

Kane was supposed to play last weekend against Calgary. He was supposed to play tonight.

This guy is injured.

Based on all of the speculation (mostly reported by Elliote Friedman), it sounds like he won't be 100% until he gets his knee scoped. He'll be able to play before then, but if the beginning of the season is any indication of that he'll be a shell of his former self until the procedure.

It's pretty much worst case scenario for the Blackhawks because they'll still have him on their books, he's not performing during that time, and his trade value is plummeting. To the point where there are discussions around him signing a 1 year deal with the Hawks just so they can replay what should have happened this year with him at 100%, but happening next year instead.

Didn't Othmann get some type of special treatment this past draft because of how he missed the true draft ceremony due to Covid restrictions? It seemed like a big deal to the Rangers organization. I doubt they'd move him this early in his tenure with the Rangers. It seems like the organization has already invested in him. To go through that and then flip him a few months later for a rental? It seems totally unrealistic.
Othmann was Drury's first pick as GM. I don't think there's any way he trades him, barring something resembling a blockbuster. And certainly not for any of these rental deals being floated.

Buch and Skjei to keep Kreider and sign a guy like Trocheck I would say is mismanagement. Or Troubas contract forcing us to let Lundkvist go. All mistakes that if we continue will send us to the dark ages once this older core doesn’t win their 1 cup.
Not really. Skjei is/was not that good.

Also, Lundkvist is a marginal talent. I'd much rather have Trouba and his bloated contract

Isn't Meier UFA after this season?
EDIT: Whoops. He's RFA, but with a 10M qualifier he may as well be UFA.

Pronman also notes he wouldn't be surprised if he's higher when all is said and done, to be fair. Just doesn't see it with his skating as is.
