I missed the Kreider injury, what did he injure?

Hit from Greenway a big body

I could see NYR adding Lafferty from Chi. He was a pain to play against the last time we played them. He's signed for another year at 1.5 which might be a deal breaker for NYR but maybe something like Blais/Gaut & a pick for Lafferty & Domi? Then NYR go
KZK
Panarin-Chytil-Krav
Laf-Troch-Domi
Lafferty-Good-Vesey

Rather confident it’s rentals only W the cap tight another year

Last September on a 32T podcast,Elliotte Friedman mentioned that he had heard Kane was battling an injury and he might need to have surgery. Everyone around Kane said no. The same people are saying Kane could have a clean up for something. Kane doesn’t look like the same player. His performance this season has been off. It looks like he is playing injured and he has been trying to play through the injury. Elliotte gets his info from someone. It’s not always 100% but he is good with these situations.

It's almost like the Rangers have no coherent plan at forward.

Chytil breaks out in the playoffs; immediately sign a limited offensive upside center for 7 years in a contract you can't move, risking your rising star.

That's why I have no time for Drury. Trocheck isn't a bad player but the team's vision of where it is headed is just delusional.

Here's where I disagree with you

Well first IDK what limited offensive upside means in this context. Trocheck scores 55-60 per year pretty much like clockwork.

But the big thing is there's nothing stopping Chytil from playing with Panarin. Insofar as Trocheck stays on PP1 and plays with offensive minded players, there's nothing stopping him from being on the nominally third line while Chytil plays with Panarin.

K-Z-K
P-C-G
L-T-Kr
V-Ry-Gau

I've got no beef with any of that. Use Trocheck as the catalyst to try to get Laf and Krav going.

Trocheck is on pace for 60 points, plays with an edge and is good on faceoffs. This was not a bad signing to replace Strome. What happens if Chytil wasn't able to handle 2c this year then what. You would have a giant hole down the middle. They had to sign a qualified 2c. Now you have a solid 1-2-3 down the middle. His contract is a little long but 5.6 mil for what he brings is not bad.

Ok, here we go, it’s time for Kakko to go on the first PP unit with Kreider out. Trocheck can take Kreiders spot in front of the net which he was amazing at in previous years on the PP with the Canes. Don’t want to hear “oh no we cant have Kakko play bumper”, who gives a shit, he isn’t tied down to not being allowed to move, he can still move around all he wants, it’s called being creative.

assuming 12, 20 miss tomorrow, either dress 7D ,or a callup. but who?
Rydahl hurt. Pack play Wed, Sat, Sun
Carp? or NHL debut for Will/Karl/Lauri/Bobby?
fyi Elson has 3 NHL games, 2 last season

it won't happen, but anyone have clarity re NHL guidelines for emergency CHL call-ups?
(ie re NYR's most recent 1st-rounder)

I have to laugh when I see people taking a crap on Trochek. He's a good 2C. He plays in all situations. His age fit the teams timeline perfectly AND he provides something the team needs more in an actual pulse in terms of forechecking and playing with an edge. Oh and his contract is a measly $5.625m per season which in the grand scheme of things is completely reasonable.

Moving forward as well, that $5.625m will become less and less percent of the overall cap as well which will mean it will probably age well for when/if he ever needs to drop back as a VERY good 3C on this team.

I have been a proponent of signing guys to longer term deals right now anyways and this contract is a perfect example.

It should be Cuylle or Trivigno

I dont mind the contract, though i didnt want him signed just because he woikd block Chytil.

If coach utilized him like a 3rd liner and chytil like a second liner than it looks even better.

However i have very little faith in our coaches personnel choices.

He isn't blocking anyone. Chytil is playing quite a bit and developing well. We are all acting like having 3 very capable centers is a bad thing...

Its not a bad thing. However Chytil should be getting more ice time than Trocheck and more special teams time.

Oh and as for Kreiders injury. Hopefully nothing serious, but him being out a couple weeks or even a month could actually help the team long term.

It might force schmucko to change the PP and maybe give Laf more Ice time in general and hopefully with Zib. All good things.

The top teams have all overcome major injuries in the past few seasons. It helps build character and also give depth guys more experience.

But who am i kidding. Schmucko will probably let Kreider play in a sling bc he wont want to sit.

AND Trocheck's contract will be VERY moveable after two more seasons when his NMC is over. He will still be a very serviceable 3C with a hit that will seem much lower with a significantly rising cap. If we look to move him it at that point may be a sign of good center depth more than cap need.

Small roster moves as minor upgrades between now & Deadline
Nathan Beaulieu ($850.000) for Libor Hájek ($800.000) and something small
Nick Bjugstad ($900.000) for a 2024 4th rounder and Lauri Pajuniemi (N.R.)
Adam Erne ($2.100.000) for Samuel Blais ($1.525.000) and Carl Henriksson. Detroit retains $575.000. Throw in Lindbom if it is a dealbreaker ;)
Jonny Brodzinski demoted to Hartford

Then sit tight and see what can be done last second at the TDL - if it truly is a buyers market. If nothing really good (i.e. filling a necessary weakness to a reasonable price) shows up, run with what we have... maybe give Othmann a look in the POs as well

They need to do better than Beaulieu at 3LD. They need to give Robertson a shot soon, then decide if they need to make an upgrade at the deadline.

Gauthier on the ice... guess it was just precautionary

Laffy in Kreiders spot

Laffy Zibs Kakko
Panarin Tro Kravtsov
Goodrow Chytil Vesey
Blais Brodz Gauthier

poor Chytil. He'd be better served with Gauthier.

now change Schneids and Trouba.
