Seems like there are growing rumblings Vancouver may move on from Benning.

Florida v Tampa first round. If Florida is bounced, maybe they make a bold move for Buch as many here have mentioned.

Nashville got a stay of execution after a nice run, but they are a consensus first round exit against Carolina. We could line up here.

Vegas has not matched well against Minnesota all season. They will make bold moves if they don't advance far.

Things to watch over the next few weeks.

Bergevin is certainly feeling the heat in Montreal too.

One thing to consider - If Drury wants Eichel it certainly would benefit him to make the move earlier rather than later so that they can assess what's going on with his injury for themselves.

If you pay for damaged goods and still need to find out how to glue it together the price must go down. Plus that cap hit and diva attitude... Meh.
I’m just saying it’s obvious that his recovery and treatment is a point of contention with his current team. If you trade for him in July at the draft and no decision has been made treatment wise then you’d hate to be starting recovery then.

I mentioned in the Gallant thread, if he ends up coaching here, Reaves for one of the Rangers three fourth rounders is logical.

Not that surprised about Vancouver, while Benning has done some good stuff (keyword "some") they have a lot of cap tied to bottom sixers, Holtby, and they have two very dynamic stars who are injury prone (Boeser and Petterson). Something's gotta give.

Great point!

Reaves isn’t really close to being a NHL caliber player, but at the same time, he does give this team a legitimate back-bone attitude wise. I wouldn’t mind it if we got him. Gallant knows how to use him.

I think people need to stop looking at what Bennett is doing in Florida and automatically think that he would be the same player here. He's attributed much of his success down there to being at the top six role and getting power play time and even being used on the PK. He absolutely would not have been in that role here. He would have been stuck on the third line again with no PP time. He literally landed in the perfect spot for himself.

I don’t think I’ve seen Florida a single game since the trade, but it’s also such a short sample size and so forth.

I hope we seriously consider Mike Babcock. Look, I am sure he deserves everything said about him. But what he have done is not an unforgivable offense.

He is a very very devoted, professional, NHL coach. He has a great track record with kids, all types of them. Top picks, late bloomers. Forwards and Ds. He had experience with rebuilding teams as well as teams trying to stay at a high level. He is a great communicator and is totally unphased by pressure from media.

Is he our guy? I don’t know. But he must be considered.

Due diligence on Babcock Torts Boudreau and Knobster but you have to think Gallivanting Gallant is the favorite

The stuff he’s done doesn’t sound very professional or like the work of a good communicator. Sounds more like a manipulative bully.

I really wonder how differently he’d be perceived if he didn’t have Datsyuk, Lindstrom and Zetterberg for years.

Id be extremely concerned if they hired him.

Babcock is a psychopath.

His PR stunt comeback attempt was a total train wreck.

How does a coach effectively use a player who isn't NHL caliber?

Disk replacement in the neck region is much better than middle to lower back and has a fraction of the recovery time. Someone in my household has this done in February and 8 weeks later was like there was never even an issue.

Alas, this is a professional athlete so the comparisons aren't apples to apples but disk replacement doesn't have to be career ending or debilitating.

Now if there was disk fusion involved that is an entirely other story that could very well be career ending.

Its still moves meant to get his team to perform better. I am the last person who would advice crap like that, I’ve never liked it.

I just think it’s unproportional to disregard him totally because of it. Think he is far from alone. He should be talked too. Is these things something he will keep up?

I also have no doubt that he is an excellent coach. I’ve just seen enough of him over a very long period of time. I would like to say that he is up there at McDavids level and many other names mentioned are half flawed 2nd liners with issues.

Gallant could be an excellent coach, but I have to admit that I am a little afraid of him. Why was he fired from Vegas and Florida? He did well in Vegas, but the guy who took over got even better results. He is a bit of a hot head.

Don’t get me wrong, he could be great. I have no clue. But Vegas has a really good team, I called it that they at least would make the finals when I saw their expansion roster and they have kept it up since. That wasn’t some amazing coaching feat to get them to do well. He is a guy who have been able to keep any job. Is he really the best of the best?

I understand that Eichel wants disc replacement surgery. The Sabres want conservative physical therapy—no NHL player has had disc replacement before. Jack is concerned that PT won’t work and his injury will worsen to the point that a fusion is the only option.

That's the only reason they were good.
