Has anybody ever heard of a coach interview going bad ? LOL....I get a kick out of the writers out there jumping on this stuff . It's like a few posters that claim a 50 % chance of this and a 50 % chance of that happening and in the end give us nothing we did not already know ...but they do a great job of serving it up without putting themselves out there . Oh well.....fodder for May since we have some time away from the tube .

Copp intrigues me but at what cost? How many assets to acquire him and what cap hit?

I honestly think Toews should be the target. This team really needs a certified leader and to build structure in the locker room. He's literally everything we need in a Center.
We dont know how Toews will play when he comes back.

Chicago would have to retain at least $3 million for me to be interested given his age and coming off the health issues.

And so to get the money retained while obtaining one of the faces of the franchises...how much doee that cost? Thats my concerns

I'm under the belief that if Drury is a talented GM: he won't entertain Eichel. It just seems like a poisoned chalice. Injury, steep price, and potential locker room issues.

Instead, he will trade blue chips for blue chips. Flip our logjam at D for centers.

If he does that this summer, I'll be impressed.

2 more years at 10.5, full no move.

We don't even know the issue that kept him out all of last season. Bowman addressed it yesterday and spoke yet said nothing:

"“We talked for about 15-20 minutes. It was good to connect with him and catch up. That’s the update I have, though. I don’t have anything more than that. We’re hopeful he’ll be back, but we’re going to let it play out and we’ll see. It’s uncharted waters here. The situation came up and we’re taking it as it comes. When we have more information, we’ll pass that along. I don’t have another update on that right now.”"
Toews is probably done too. He was out all season with an undisclosed medical issue that left him drained and lethargic. Dude could have anything from depression to cancer.
This statement was released by Stan Bowman two days ago "[talked 15-20 min]. I don’t have anything more than that. We’re hopeful he’ll be back, but we’re going to let it play out and we’ll see. It’s uncharted waters here." That does NOT sound like he's coming back anytime soon and if he does, big ??? what type of player we'd be getting.

EDIT: lol, I think I quoted the wrong person and ended up just repeating what you wrote.

I think we will see many of these guys get squeezed again

Another interesting name, Erik Haula played his best hockey of his career under Gerard Gallant. He's a center. 21 points in 51 games this year for Nashville. The Rangers could probably add him for a year or two to insulate a young center who is developing. I believe he has played both center and LW and I can NEVER find a site that gives me good details on how many games a player plays at each position if they play both. Can someone help a brother out?

Rangers were interested in Haula last offseason too IIRC

yes but I cannot for the life of me remember who. Like the response from the interview was like "no way in hell"

I'm more okay keeping Strome as a 'self rental' for a year and trading Zibanejad than I am the opposite.

Trade Zibanejad, Buch, Hajek, Georgiev
Acquire a Young center prospect, bottom-6 role players, picks

Zibanejad to Vegas for Krebs + Reaves
Buch to Edmonton for Holloway + Khaira
Georgiev to Buffalo for 3rd '21
Hajek to Detroit for 3rd '21

Sign Martinook if his contract demands are not outlandish. Otherwise go for Bonino on a short deal.

Are you perpetually stuck in Feb.2018 right when we sent the rebuild letter out?

A talented GM should at least inquire about players if they’re available. I recall Gorton saying he regularly talks to other GM’s about players but nothing comes to fruition.

A good GM has these conversations regularly so he at least has his hand on the pulse regarding players values.

This isn’t me advocating he should trade for Eichel. Unless we can rob Buffalo, I want nothing to do with him.

I wonder if Seattle could be a trade partner regarding Buch. They will have an opportunity to get an abundance of a bit more gritty depth players. Cal Foote. Nolan Patrick. And a few others are players I wouldn’t mind if Drury looked into.

These stats got zero response last time I posted them, but I really feel like they are important to internalize. Which one of these players would you rather have?

no cause Buch is resigning

NYR has cap space what’s the problem ?

there’s no need to move him out after finally becoming what we want him to be

If the Rangers want Eichel and want to have Zib, then there is a strong chance Buch and Strome are gone.

The player on the right.

Its not that simple. You have age, position, cap hit to consider. Are they good defensively etc.

Need more details.

Left = Strome

Right = Chytil

People have no idea how good of a season Chytil just had. I have all of the confidence in the world that he can slot right into Strome’s spot tomorrow and we’d barely miss a beat. Give the kid some PP time and he’d be a 60pt. player easily.

Trading Strome is a no brainer for me.

Trading Buch probably has to happen even if I’d rather they not.

Chytil grows more every year and continues to be the most underrated player on the team.

Good post, Hope so, and that was really the plan all along

I like this idea abstractly but then if you frame it in the context of “trading Buch fora bunch of guys who were exposed on expansion lists just a few weeks previously, essentially forfeit by their prior team” then idk. It just feels different.
