It's not only the neck issue, he seems to break down a lot.

My original point was essentially that I don't know if that player we are looking for is out there to just go out and get easily. But to offer a counterpoint: just sign Blake Coleman.
I think he ticks every box outside of an arbitrary age thing. My original point was essentially that I don't know if that player we are looking for is out there to just go out and get easily.
Absolutely nothing arbitrary about the age thing.I think he ticks every box outside of an arbitrary age thing.
Why can't he be 30?
We have the youngest team in the league. Is the world going to stop turning if one player who is a great fit is 30?
You sign him to a reasonable deal and then Cuylle or whoever takes over.
It is arbitrary. The idea is that he's going to decline soon because he's 30.Absolutely nothing arbitrary about the age thing.
There's no vacuum sure but playing the odds on it it's way more likely to happen than to not. The idea is he is going to decline because he's thrown his body around the league for years and he's outside of his prime playing days. Not rolling the dice on a multi-year contract for that, sorry. It is arbitrary. The idea is that he's going to decline soon because he's 30.
Every player is different and every contract is different.
Can’t forget about Nils, and maybe Schneider if he makes the team out of camp. Glad they got Lindgren signed for 3 more yrs.So
Strome does not have a clause, is going to be a pending UFA...
Buch pending last year of RFA, can not have a clause for that last RFA year...
Geo if he has trade value, if they are moving him.
Beyond them, the youth, who to keep who not to, picks too.
And keep in mind about 5M in buyouts once ADA is factored in, and somewhere about 3M in bonus cushion overage which can not be spent for next year, assuming they keep Laff, Kakko, Kravtsov, Fox, Barron, Miller.
According to Gary Lawless (VGK broadcast tonight), these are names he's heard as filling current/potential coaching vacancies around the league:

He said while Quinn hasn't been fired by the Rangers, the rumour mill is hot that something might happen.
If eichel is a ufa you guys are throwing well over 10mil a year at him just as we did with panarin. He's younger and playing a premium position. Yes we will have to move assets BUT so long as it's going to exclude the obvious off limit guys (and Schneider bc his mix is incredibly unique) I have no issues taking a swing to add him. We won't have room for all the players in our system. Cash some of that stash in for an elite investment and let's try to get somewhere while panarin is an elite player.
I'm not blindly thinking eichel is a golden boy, I know there will be challenges, but this is a swing to make...

Tbh, I’m not in a rush to do either right now. I don’t want to trade for jack until I know the injury hasn’t effected him and I don’t want to give Mika 10 mill a year til he’s 35 and if his game takes a nosedive we have Kreids and Zibby playing paddy cake together on the 3rd line counting their fortunes. I wait at least a half season explore any and all options and re-evaluate then...Good news. I'd rather resign Zib than trade multiple high-value assets for a potentially broken Eichel.
So all speculation while we do know eichel is available.Flames are gonna blow things up
Sharks should blow things up
Detriot has stated that larkin may or may not be part of their rebuld since they traded mantha and he is basicallty the same age.
Tampa has cap issues and who knows if they can afford his next contract
