Yeah, a short while before he signed, and that was when he had sources inside of the organization.
I am kind of proud I don't remember being so on top of the "beat" in those days, being young and drunk. Now I am old and drunk, but still think Zib is very special, and should be complimented rather than supplanted. f*** Eichel and his cap charge.

I do get a chuckle out of people thinking Zibanejad is going to sign for like 4/5 years lol

he’s going to go for as many years as he can get, either here or elsewhere

usually I’m there with you on that belief but you never know. Mainly bc I think Mika wants to stay in NY, and with his Covid/injury history maybe he takes the guaranteed money now.

edit: by Covid I just mean he seems to have bad luck and he might leave this season wanting financial security now above all.

Is Zbad extending this off-season, or waiting?

Kind of makes a big difference.

Not something they should allow to play out.

If they are extending him, I can get behind that, yet they need to figure it out soon.

No way I'd go into next season, his last under contract knowing I had three options, extend him to what he wants, self rent, or sell him for rental value.

Yeah I love Zib, but like I was saying, it's hard to take Larry at face value on this article (or any really) when the other day he was tearing Zib down for scoring goals and points against lowly teams. Guy talks out of both sides of his mouth.

If the Sabres make Eichel there will be a long line of suitors. At the front will be LA, which has a very short list of “off limits” players.
There might be a long list of suitors but there won't be a long list of places that can actually consummate that type of trade.

Let it be else where. Trade him and Strome and some spare parts and get your top 1a and 1b centers that fit in with the time line of the team and of what we need which is a 200 ft game, physical play, wins faceoffs, and can hunt the puck down and get it to our wingers to make plays.

I love Zibs and want him to stay here but he is 29 by the time his contract is up, he isnt very good at face offs, cant win battles when a physical game is present and thats a big concern of mine come playoff time.

"Richards isn't coming here."

Larry was also dragging Zib last week for only scoring against the Devils, Sabres and Flyers. Sounds like the tried & true Rangers tactic of doing their negotiating through the media.
He was also writing in March about how if Eichel was available the Rangers would be at the front of the line. Now he's skeptical all of a sudden?

Anybody watching the Isles/ Bruins game? Its like watching the last lap of the Daytona 500.
Holy body contact. Nasty game.
Love it.

out of all the D prospects, he's the one that screams winner the most to me. He's the last one I'd trade right now.
The team was formulating an exit plan on ADA prior to the incident to pave a path for Nils. I'm not convinced the team is as eager to trade Lundkvist as the board.

And I'm not so sure he would sign in a place like Buffalo if he were traded. He's so close to controlling his own fate it would be a gamble for the less desirable teams. The Rangers wouldn't be deceptive either, signing him to just trade months later.

I believe @Amazing Kreiderman had an interview with Nils saying he would play in Hartford if necessary. We don't have too many defenders yet. No guarantee Schneider is ready next season. We could always add size to the left d spot and let Nils prove to people here that he plays big himself.
