Sucks that Drury is absolutely going to go in for Eichel.

Just please no to Kakko/Laf being traded.

Nils will almost 100% be a lock to go to Buffalo in that deal. Nice top pair of 21 year old Swedish defensemen.

Buch likely going there as well.

Mika is also 6 years older, and his third contract likely takes him well into his late 30s.
I’m not on the Eichel train, but I also don’t think Mika is the long term answer for the core we have.
Mika is less than four years older.

He just turned 28. Eichel has been 24 for many months

I know we’ve accumulated a boatload of assets, but the more I think about it the more I’m very nervous about giving them up for Eichel.

I think the big question is whether the organization thinks Zibanejad will keep producing into his 30’s. If not then trading for Eichel makes sense. Young #1 Centers rarely become available. I think he and Kakko would be dynamite together.
I can see Eichel darting thru the ice and finding LaF for 1 timers of the pass like it’s magic

I agree, he doesn't shy away from contact. I just don't know if he is hard to play against.

Crosby is hard play against
Malkin is hard to play against, albeit past his prime
Marchand is really hard to play against.
Bergeron is really hard to play against
Ryan OReilly is really hard to play against
Both Tkachuk brothers are hard to play against
Mark Sheifele is hard to play against
Blake Wheeler is hard to play against
oh yeah, if we are bleeding our asset pool dry, give me Larkin over Eichel in regards to cap, health, and overall projected package value. Send Chytil++. Detroit will have the new Czechmates in Vrana-Chytil-Zadina that would be pretty fun to watch.

How do you know is going to go in for Eichel? Given Eichel's injuries and not knowing if he will return to form most GMs would be smart to wait it out.

Because Dolan just fired the president and GM because the team didnt the playoffs again fast enough for his likes.

Ranger's have always had the feelers out for him and have more pieces than almost every team in the league to acquire him.

Dolan will tell Drury to make the trade.

Eichel is still an elite player who is a better center than anyone on the team outside of Panarin.

Yes, the injury is a concern, but his on-ice effectiveness on even a bad team like the Sabres is more than impressive.

Not just a concern, but a BIG concern.

He just went on record saying he had a broken rib from shooting a puck (not sure how that's even possible) and an abdomen injury all season. This guy is looking like an injury prone mess.

Czechmates alone makes that post worth quoting.

I think the Eichel trade will be for Chytil, Lundkvist and a 1st. If we throw in a 2nd as well, I’d be okay with that. If we threw in Buch, I’d be really upset.

It’ll likely be the kind of trade that we’ll view as an overpayment but the rest of the league will view as an underpayment.

It may actually turn out to be a good hockey trade.

Buch would definitely be going. Need to shed salary.

Unless Drury tells him that he may not even be 100% in 21-22 if he undergoes next surgery.

I'd make Toews one of my top targets if he's going to play next season..

If we take on his full cap hit he could be a steal.... a bunch of 'ifs' though. IF he plays next season. IF Chicago trades him. IF he waives his NMC for NYR

Toews checks every box in our 'needs' department
