Anyone watch the Stars? I know Oleksiak is mentioned a lot.

Assuming Faska, Hintz would be no from them, Jason Dickinson?

I'm betting on Dolan's attention span shortening out and a coaching change plus a few big body adds and a few minor trades to satisfy Dolan. He only cared when his team was being emasculated.
You'd hope that but I wouldn't bank on it either. People are still shaking their heads at those firings. I don't think a JD and the Straight Shot show is gonna distract him from the fact that he could be pulling in 2 playoff revenues now instead of one. You are right though that Dolan's main issue seems to be getting pushed around, which doesn't have to be a drastic fix. But this team still needs to make a decision on it's top center, it's top RW, as well as figure out what they actually have in Chytil, so there's more to come with the construction of this team then just finding guys that make us harder to play against.

Why would anyone trade for a broken player who can't STFU and throws his toys out the pram? Unfortunately for the Rangers they have that guy as owner so here we are.

No doubt Dolan has basically ordered the Rangers to get the deal done, but with LA able to offer at least as good a deal a bidding war could get expensive. And with JD and Gorton out of the picture in a bidding war situation the restrictions are not set in stone anymore.

How does getting Eichel help Dolan make play-0ffs if he isn't on the ice most of next season? Players need time to get back in the groove after long layoffs. Eichel isn't a "make a move to get better in 21-22" guy.

Does Dolan even know who Eichel is? I'm sure he wants McDavid or Crosby, but does Dolan pay enough attention to hockey to even care about Eichel 5 years after the hype?

The team is looking to add players specifically that are hard to play against.

Lots of talk about Eichel. Lots of talk about Larkin.

I like Eichel, he's got a lot of talent. Hasen't established himself as the elite player he was supposed to be, but he is super talented.
I like Dylan Larkin too. Another talented guy who has shown he's close but he's not quite there.

As much as I like both players mentioned, i've never considered either "Hard to play against?

I will say I have watched some of Detroit, and Larkin does not shy away from the physical stuff, yet it's not like he goes looking for it either. He is a really good skater though.

The fact that Drury and Quinn didn’t talk to the media today is interesting. I wonder if they’ll speak to them tomorrow at all

i'd be unhappy if we traded for simple jack. hopefully the knicks make some noise in the playoffs and dolan stays away from us. why gut a team for a guy who hasn't taken his team to the playoffs.

Knicks going deep in the playoffs and filling his pockets would be all the more reason for him to not worry about the Knicks and start worrying more about Rangers.

I did not want to pay the price for Eichel when he was healthy. I sure as shit do not want to pay the price with that extensive injury list and neck/spine issues.

$10 million is brutal imo. Plus prospects? Com’on

Also, I know everyone here is anti-Eichel, and that's fine, I absolutely get that. I'm on the fence myself. But if you are going to make an argument against trading for him can we please move away from the "it will gut the team" rhetoric. This would have made sense if we didn't spend the last 4 years stockpiling assets. It would also have made sense without his injury and his recent comments all but saying he wants out. Whatever team Eichel gets traded to will not be "gutted" in any way, shape or form. Fox isn't getting traded for him. Laff isn't getting traded for him. Igor isn't getting traded for him.

Why would any team trade anything of significant value for Eichel with the multitude of injuries he has?

Eichel has to get on the ice to prove his abilities haven't diminished. Neck or back injury that may require surgery is a flashing red light. Is he even gonna be healthy enough to play next season?

Buffalo is really in a bind. If they don't move him before next summer a NMC kicks in. How do you get top value for a broken player who can't STFU?

there problem doesn’t need to be the Rangers problem. The Rangers shouldn’t be their bailout.

but the $10 million per year is real. That helps gut the cap space.

There isn’t a complaint against Zibanejad that can’t also be levied against Jack Eichel.

The different is Zibanejad is asset free and would likely command a somewhat lower salary.
Mika is also 6 years older, and his third contract likely takes him well into his late 30s.
I’m not on the Eichel train, but I also don’t think Mika is the long term answer for the core we have.

I know we’ve accumulated a boatload of assets, but the more I think about it the more I’m very nervous about giving them up for Eichel.

I think the big question is whether the organization thinks Zibanejad will keep producing into his 30’s. If not then trading for Eichel makes sense. Young #1 Centers rarely become available. I think he and Kakko would be dynamite together.

I agree, he doesn't shy away from contact. I just don't know if he is hard to play against.

Crosby is hard play against
Malkin is hard to play against, albeit past his prime
Marchand is really hard to play against.
Bergeron is really hard to play against
Ryan OReilly is really hard to play against
Both Tkachuk brothers are hard to play against
Mark Sheifele is hard to play against
Blake Wheeler is hard to play against

Not anti here. For the right price I would love to see him and LaF on top line. I think jack would thrive here not being a captain. I think you would see his game tick up like panarins has when he joined the rangers. He’s dying a slow death waiting for a change of scenery

Mika and Buch are definitely up there are some of my favorite Rangers but I wouldn’t shed a tear if next year we don’t see Mika, Buch, and Strome no longer in a ranger uniform. They aren’t made for playoff hockey given how the season wound down. I know all 3 won’t be gone but losing them stings a lot less.
