One would have to think gorton knows what Kreider wants for a contract. If no talks, are they thinking self rental, if close to the playoffs?

A caution about news reports...

I have read 7 or 8 different reports on Kreider today and it is amazing to see the different shades of each article. Every reporter has a POV that is driven by their interpretation of the facts. They are all somewhat different.

Morale...looks for reporters who are sticking to the facts. I thought Lebrun was the closest to just relaying the facts. All of the facts. Even his article was taken out of context by posters here. Cyrgalis was a close second.

Facts matter.

Everyone has been doing their 'wants' at the deadline so HG

Kreider to Boston for Frederic, Senyshyn, and a 1st

Fast to anyone for a 3rd rounder that becomes a 2021 2nd if he re-signs with the acquiring team.

Georgiev+Skjei+Hajek to TML for Nylander

Smith(50%) to Detroit for a conditional 7th round pick.

As much as I want Nylander, does Dubas really trade him and it not being in the offseason?

I’d try to wait til the last minute of TDL and find a panicking team willing to give a 2nd without strings for Fast. It might also be a more balanced offer with Andersson instead of Hajek going to Toronto.

Otherwise, it’s close to the best case scenario. Could even become better as soon as this year to stay on the playoff bubble longer.

This may be the first one of these that I didn’t hate on some level.

The notion on this board that the Leafs will trade us Nylander is nearly as laughable as the notion that we are going to keep Kreider. I can assure you all of two things: Kreider is gone at Deadline and Nylander will not be wearing a Rangers jersey at the Deadline.

And this is coming from someone who for every logical trade idea I have, I have one just as stupid to match it lol.

I dont know, a team needs 3 superstars on offense, they have marner, tavares, matthews, nylander, and decent in kapanen. I think with the offense they have, itd be good enough regardless bc matthews and tavares elevate others, same with marner.

I don't think the Penguins have the assets needed to trade for Kreider. That looks very unlikely to me.

On the subject of a Buchnevich to Minnesota for Greenway deal. I think the Rangers would do it---I'm not sure the Wild wouldn't want more. Depending on what that more (if anything) would be I'd be inclined to do it. We'd be getting a two year younger player on a much cheaper contract and Greenway might not be quite as talented as Buch but I can see him becoming a better player and he'd make the Rangers a lot harder team to play against. He's a beast and he skates well--if Kreider is gone I can see him possibly becoming the new net front presence guy. He's a physical player besides. I think it would be a good deal for us.

While it's true that Pavel's got great talent--he looks like a 45 point a year player to me. That's not a bad thing at all really but he's not proven to be a key player either.

I'm not for trading Buch necessarily but he is very much the kind of player that doesn't tend to stick on one team for more than a couple years.

Buch is eventually someone that has to move on in order to save cap . Not that he takes much up but I’d rather move on from him to add an ELC player . His all around game is improved but he still doesn’t shoot enough . Crazy how once we were completely sellers he started shooting and scoring at the end of last season .

I feel like that Kreider deal is totally realistic, and will disappoint me. I've stated repeatedly that Frederic is a good player but IMO a borderline NHLer and not something worth targeting. Getting Senyshyn would be a "quantity over quality" move which I hate, but seems reasonable.
