There is no doubt an East tax is being applied for Eichel. Just send him out west or keep him and get this shit over with.
Which is strange considering where they traded Reinhart and Risto.

Not on the Buffalo boards. It's getting ugly. They've officially turned on him. It's looking like a scene out of Lord of the Flies over there.

I keep going on just to see their asking prices for him. Its too funny. Just scrolling a bit today ive seen:

Zegras +
Lindholm+Tkachuk
Tkachuk+2022 1st+ high end prospect
Dach+
Kaprizov (Sabres fans saying no to the person who suggested it cuz hes not enough.....)

Ah. Quite fun. Definitely recommend a read on their board if your bored.

The annual Mark Jankowski feelers for a completely useless big slow soft stiff has begun again.

If the roster is basically set and nothing significant changes. We have to be better with Gallant in charge. Letting Laffy and Kakko get a training camp, and top 6 role will be a HUGE factor if they break out.

I’m excited to see how our defense did under Gallant too with Foxy, Lindgren, Miller, Lundvist.

Almost means Shesty will have a better year.

I think we’ll take a huge leap this season. Super stoked.

just think Eichel is a different animal. If he is truly damaged goods then trade him anywhere. But if they trade him to a Montreal or even us and he dominates for the next 5 years it would be a nightmare for Buffalo

As much as I hate the Buchnevich trade the Goodrow signing was a homerun. Takes care of a number of scenarios. If we sign Eichel and get rid of both Strome and Chytil he can play 3rd line center.
If we stay put, he's on the wing and can move to center if someone gets injured. If we don't get Eichel and trade Strome, Chytil can move up and Goodrow becomes 3rd line C.
Eichel isn’t a free agent dude.

wow a positive post! lol
A real good REAL NHL coach and what should be 3 super talented forward prospects taking another step in their overall development. Very excited as well. Not even gonna mention the exciting youth on D and Shesty.

I really wonder when the internal deadline is to get Eichel traded. Adams is saying he's fine seeing Eichel come back for camp. Eichels agent basically refuted this, saying he expects him to be traded soon. It just seems to get uglier and uglier. Also, it doesn't seem like there is much chatter out there about something being close. Such an odd situation. Thankfully, I think it's less and less likely that he's a Ranger at this point.

Why are you thinking that? I’m thinking just the opposite. It seems like one of those things that have just been destined for quite a while (whether good or bad).

If they want Chytil, Lundkvist, Kravtsov and a 1st... I hope Drury hangs up the phone.

Maybe something like Strome, Robertson, Georgiev, 1st and some other add on plus some retention on Eichel. I know it's not a great offer but you don't rebuild and then trade away all the prospects you acquired. What happens if Eichel isn't himself? That would pretty much mean another rebuild for us.

Huge gamble on Eichel right now. I think I'd rather try and get Dvorak from AZ if they are entertaining offers and run something like Zib-Chytil-Dvorak down the middle.

This is where I am. Even we do virtually nothing:

1A Bread - Strome - Good/Blais/Krav
1B Laf - Zib - KK/Krav
2 Kreid - Chytil - Krav/Good
3 Blais - Rooney - Gauthier
Lind - Fox
K - Trouba
Nemeth - Nils
Shesterkin

Is a very potent lineup that has added some significant grit, but with even marginal progress from the 4 kids + Nils hasn’t sacrificed any skill/scoring.

I expect playoffs, even if this is the final roster. And of course there’s Barron, the potential for a larger trade/signing, and the likelihood of a depth signing or two. I mean, depending on price, just imagine swapping Gauthier on that 4th line for Armia, for instance.

It would take a bit to dig them up, but end of 2019-20, mid 2020-21 I made posts about this team needing to find a better mix, implement some grit and defensive aptitude at the expense of SOME skill, and how important it was to find the right guys, who have some upside to contribute, who can actually play, to provide that grit. The main point of the posts was getting a super high skill (Bread, Zib, Strome, Buch, Laf, KK, Kravtsov, Chytil) roster some BALANCE. I think we’ve taken some major steps towards achieving that without sacrificing TOO MUCH. I’m much more a believer in this team’s odds to make some noise and make a run than the past two years.

I had felt that way for a long time, but reports came out that Drury was declining to add even Nils or Schneider. He's playing it extremely conservative, and I'm thankful for that. I don't think we beat out some of the west coast teams without even including Nils/Schneider, obviously off the table are also Laffy/Kakko.

Ive never understood this logic. Buffalo plays the Rangers normally 4-5 times per year. If he’s traded out West he would still play the Sabres 1-2 times per season. Are those extra 3 games per season really worth possibly taking less of a package? The odds of Eichel being a Ranger and directly costing the Sabres a playoff spot is slim to none. In fact with the 5 years remaining on his contract Buffalo might be on the upswing in years 4 and 5 of his deal. You should always deal for what you think is the best package you can get for a player, geography shouldn’t play any part in that decision.

When was the last time a really good player was traded to another team and directly affected the results of games or standings of his old club?

Then Friedman also added that we've been "out" on Eicher for over a week. We shed Buchnevich after being out. And we have been shopping Strome. So all signs point to adding a center. I suspect Danault.

I would guess by or right before training camp. They don’t want that black cloud/ soap opera bleeding into the new culture shift. They also haven’t formally stripped him of his captaincy yet. Which is big.
Means buffalo has no captain going into the season. They don’t want to do anything to further affect Eichel’s value. So I doubt it happens until he’s traded. But the faster they make Dahlin the face of the franchise, the better it is for everyone over there

On Eichel the “Venn diagram being two circles” really screams an unbridgeable gap to me, I’m sure other teams are closer...for that reason I do think the NYR are out. But if Adams is really set on moving Eichel in the next day and a half, who knows what might change.

Today’s article in the Athletic would definitely indicate that Wed at noon is the deadline. Though this story could be 100% coming from Eichel’s camp:

It’s been a long three months filled with rumors, innuendo and straight-up fantasy. It’s easy for the facts to be obscured or forgotten.

So here are two indisputable facts:
  1. The Sabres are building around players who want to be in Buffalo.
  2. Jack Eichel wants to be somewhere else.
That’s it. The rest is just noise.
While general manager Kevyn Adams says he’s OK with Eichel still being in Buffalo when training camp starts, it’s not going to happen. He knows it. Eichel knows it. The NHL knows it.

“Our expectation is that Jack is going to be traded in the near future,” Eichel’s agents told Elliotte Friedman on Sunday night, “and all of our discussions have been centered around that issue.”

The last half of the quote is more important than the first. Adams talked with Eichel’s agents at least twice Saturday. The chats were not about when camp starts or whether Eichel should bring a hacky sack to the team picnic.

All discussions have centered around trading Eichel.

Depends on if any of the suitors commit cap space / assets elsewhere on Wed. Risky game for Adams to play.
