Add Nemeth to Goodrow and Blais, and Drury is 3 for 3 acquiring toughness that can play.

You can say he overpayed for it but that's less important than avoiding bad players. He also nuked the only bonafide terrible player on the roster.

The time to overpay for needs is now. This team is very seriously competing over the next 24 months.

Could Strome, Hajek and Georgiev get you Dvorak? I know many here don't seem to like Dvorak, but he is signed to a good contract and has a well rounded 200 foot game and is good in the dot.

Well.

Hajek and Bitteto are still here.

3 good adds. I think people are really going to like Blais. If he can stay healthy.

I agree, but Hajek is bonafide terrible as well and he is still here.

I don't really have an issue with Strome. It's not his fault he's been asked to play above his pay grade.
He's actually done a decent job at it but in reality he's a #3C.
Looking at it from that stand point, I would try to upgrade the position with either Bennett or Danault, preferably Danault.

I think fans are losing sight of this after the emotional reaction to the Buchnevich trade. The team still has skill coming out of its ears, its easy to see the team really taking off with expected growth from Kakko/Laf/Kravtsov/Chytil(if hes still here)

Who's this guy I agree with and what has he done with NYR??!?

Rangers should bring back Derek Stepan at this point if they need a vet center.

would anyone be interested in a reunion?

Anybody else interested in a 1 year contract for Getzlaf. If we can limit his even strength minutes like Spezza on Toronto, he can be effective feeding Panarin one timers on the Power Play. Have him be the 4c and put him on the top pp unit.

Not really worried about the Strome thing. Having him back is far from a bad thing.

That being said, for all we know Drury was asking for teams to come to the table with a good package or he was going to go to UFA to solve the LD need. Doesn't mean teams are no longer interested, just that the offers have to change.

him, what are realistic center packages from ottawa, vegas, or arizona for Strome?? Dvorak? Brown? someone make me wet my panties.

i want these teams in me dms

The center ufa market is horrible, it might just be waiting for teams who miss out on whatever centers sign on day 1 before circling back on Strome.

It’s more than likely those. Lots of teams will be in on Danault, all but 1 will miss. That leaves guys like Bonino as options but nothing really of top-6 variety. Reinhart was traded already. Eichel isn’t going unless it’s an overpayment. Kreijci has said Boston or retire.

I know people will hate hearing this but I get the feeling that the Strome trade will be similar to the Buch deal anyways. Probably a lower line forward with some experience and a 2nd next year. Maybe another late pick. I’ve mentioned this before but wouldn’t it be amazing if Drury could work out a way to facilitate the Fleury move for Vegas?

To Vegas
Strome + Hajek

To NYR
Fleury + Reaves + LV 1st ‘22

Then

To Chicago
Fleury at 50% cap hit

To NYR
2nd ‘22

Great points. The Buchnevich trade yielding a poor return seems to be clouding the thoughts about the team. Drury wanted to make the team harder to play against and so far, regardless of contract value/trade returns, he's identifying and acquiring players who are tough to play against and are actually good players instead of face punchers or bad 4th liners.

I’m sorry but no.

You can get harder to play against without giving 6 year deals, without trading first liners for fourth liners, and without significantly overdrafting.

Nothing cloudy about that. No reason to sugar coat it. There’s also nothing wrong with being critical. I’m not going to let the organization feed me dirt and tell me it’s chocolate.

The start to the offseason has been very poor. No reason to say otherwise until proven differently. Will gladly be wrong about it it that’s the case.
