Right now I’m seeing our team as

Panarin-Strome-Lafraniere
Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko
Goodrow-Chytil-Kravtsov
Bilas on the 4th line with some other players TBD
Can Goodrow play Right wing? Would still like to see a full season of the youngsters playing their natural position.
Some combination of Blais-Rooney-Barron-Gauthier for the 4th line. Wish we could find a productive spot for Gauthier and give him one more shot at being a decent power forward.

So Buffalo apparently wants all futures full rebuild. The equivalent of 4 first round pick level prospects/picks

Minnesota cannot make a futures trade they need to send money back and have a bunch of holes to fill while also needing big money to sign fiala and Kaprizov

I don’t see where Buffalo is moving this kid too. He also still does need the surgery. It’s practically August. You’re lucky you see this guy at all next season.

I really really hope we stay far far away

There are really very few teams who can do that and less who want to do that. I still think this is an unreasonable ask for a guy with neck issues and surgery concerns. Who is going to give up those pieces and possibly not have him play for most or all of next year?

Yes, he played right wing with Tampa.

Not saying Rooney should be in the lineup but unless Barron comes in and really impresses I don't think Drury/Gallant are gonna wanna sit out one of our PK guys. Especially since we protected him

My forward lines as of now, adn assuming strome is gone;

Panarin-Zib-Laf
Kreider-Chytil-Kakko
Goodrow-XXXX-Kravtsov
Blais-Barron-XXX
extra forwards: Rooney, Gauthier

I think we need to sign a Middle Six Center and one more side of beef for the 4th line. Reaves?

On D:
Fox-Lindgren
Miller-Trouba
XXX-Lundkvist
extra: Bitetto

Goalies
Shesterkin
Georgy (though I think he might get moved as well)
Kinkaid

I think Jones, Robertson and possibly Schneider start in the A. (Can Schneider play in the A or must he go back to juniors?) I think we bring in one. I think we bring in a vet D who can play PK and clear the crease. And possibly drop the gloves.

Kreider plays on the 3rd line. Krav 1st with Mika and Bread..then the kids 13-72-24...easy

When all is said and done our 1a/1b line is gonna be Panarin-Strome-Goodrow. Or Goodrow drops to be Chytil's winger but not sure if Kakko or Kravy are gonna be that lines RW right from the start

I think Panarin is playing with Mika this year as was the original plan before the Panarin Strome affair started.

I think lafreniere will be playing with the 2C whoever that may be

Very curious to know what our Eichel offer was if it didn't include Schneider/Lunkqvist.

Also, if Zib is seeking 10 mill a year then he should feel free to seek that somewhere else that isn't NY.

You mean long term? or he's being traded this offseason?
I think 80/20 strome is here to start his final year with the team

Being traded this offseason.

Everyone has basically hinted at it. Seravalli and Freidman have both made it sound like it's coming in the next 2 days.

In terms of a Strome trade with Vegas, McNabb and Reaves for Strome would be somewhat close cap wise

Reaves is thrown in to make the salary being swapped more even

Another note:

If the Rangers bring in a bottom pairing LHD and do nothing else in FA, Drury should be all about taking back a bad contract for a year and getting an asset back for it. It would be moronic to not use every single dollar of cap in this flat cap climate.

Was just thinking about this? How much money could we reasonably have?

I wonder if a 1 year deal for a UFA could be an option, like Ryan Suter. 1 year 8m per. Sure he is getting more terms if he wants, but maybe NYC has some lure for his family.

I have a bad feeling we are signing Coleman, cizikas, a LD, and trading strome and calling it a day.

Laf-Mika-Kakko
Panarin-Chytil-Krav
Kreider-Goodrow-Coleman
Blais-Cizikas-Gauthier

not saying that’s what I want, but that is what I feel is going to happen Wednesday.

Why would that be bad? We are not signing Cizikas btw. We have Rooney who is more than capable of centering 4th line and a lot cheaper.

How much size do you need to have? Does every player need to be 6'1 or above just cause Tampa is that way? Why is four out of six not good enough?

.... because Pittsburgh ran out three guys who were under 6'2? Daley was 5'11, Letang 6'0, Cole 6'1? I'm just not seeing a ton of difference in that and Fox 5'11, Nils 6'0, Lindgren 6'0.

We aren't talking Tampa Bay levels of size and height.

Yes we need a couple big guys like Orlov or Hedman. We have Miller who is 6'5, we have Trouba who is 6'3. Robertson is 6'4, we are gonna be good in that department.
you don't see a difference between them? You can get by with an undersize guy or two.

I don't see those lists littered with (Fox) 5'11 180lbs, (Lundkvist) 5'10 175lbs. Lindgren on his own is fine at 6'0 190lbs but when you have 2 other undersized guys it can become an issue in the playoffs.

2016 Pit +2017 Pit
-Letang 6'0 201lbs
-Dumoulin 6'4 207lbs
-Maatta 6'2 206lbs
-Lovejoy 6'2 214lbs
-Schultz 6'2 185lbs
- Cole 6'1 220lbs
- Hainesey 6'3 210lbs
- Daley 5'11 195lbs

2018 WAS
-Carlson 6'3 218lbs
-Niskanen 6'0 204lbs
-Orlov 6'0 203lbs
-Orpik 6'3 214lbs
-Kempny 6'0 194lbs
-Djoos 6'0 169lbs

2019 STL
-Pietrangelo 6'3 210lbs
-Parayko 6'6 230lbs
-Dunn 6'0 203lbs
-Edmundson 6'4 227lbs
-Bouwmester 6'4 215lbs
-Bortuzzo 6'4 215lbs
-Gunnarson 6'2 189lbs

which brings me to... I expect Lundkvist to play here until Schneider is ready. Then Robertson to replace the 3LD.

feels like Vegas needs to clear some cap though. We might send them Strome with money retained to get something more.

the only thing with Vegas is I know they need more skill/scoring but they love Stephenson and they have karlsson long term so does Stephenson go to wing? Strome definitely isn’t a 3C if he’s going there

Being traded this offseason.

We shall see. I've been hearing the same for a while now including to ottawa. I don't think the return is gonna be all that great for a position the organization wants solidified going into this coming year.

Those deals where we get a lesser, but still talented player for Buchnevich wasn't out there.

Additionally, the cost savings on a guy like Blais this year alone is going to be 4+ million compared to what Buch will be making.

It sucks, but this really wasn't much of a hockey trade as much as it was a bit of a cap dump while getting a pick a year out and a warm body that is physical and responsible defensively
And if that pick ends up playing for us that will help ease the pain of losing Buch a bit.
I wish the cap was 95 mil so we could keep who we want.

I mean McNabb would be a nice addition without having to give up a top 6/9 roster player. But I guess if options are running low on a decent LD vet then Drury has to make that call.
