Who cares about years 5 and 6. We can always trade him in year 5 or buy out in year 6. It won't matter because this team should be a Stanley cup contender in 2022-23

Who cares? Goodrow is a good player. Overpaid by maybe 750k. Oh well. The NTC is limited 15 team list, it's not a full NMC. The cap won't be flat anymore by the time he's in year 4 or 5.

He’s not overpaid at all - he would’ve gotten that number on the open market which makes it market value. There’s nothing wrong with this deal. You want a good third line, spot 2nd, center that plays with sandpaper, wins draws, wins the Cup and elevates in big moments? Then you have to pay the guy. Or, you can be Carolina.

If he's bought out after 2025 (worse case scenario) 1.2M is the penalty for 4 years. I think he's going to be a really good player for us tho for at least 5 and really help this team.

When the arguments in favor of a contract are about all the ways we can weasel our way out of it, you know it's a bad contract lmao.

Because the whining is ridiculous about the contract so pointing out that the contract is not bad and movable in the later years if needed is a rational response to said whining.

This contract really is not front of back-loaded, it's middle loaded with ~half league clause, combined it pretty much eliminates anything advantageous in terms of "getting out of it" early, before the 6th year at least
