Are we going to spend the rest of the day crying about something we already knew about?

Jesus.
it’s the NTC through the whole contract that bothers me. I wouldn’t care as much if it only went through the first 4 years. but all 6 makes it tough for him to move.

NTC’s and limited NTC’s are pretty much standard fare for UFA’s with any value. Just be glad it’s not a full NMC. This guy will be a moveable asset (if need be) down the road and his contract is market value. Not sure what all the bitching is about.

Bye bye PB. We will miss you…
raw

So in years 5 and 6, he is easily movable. I don’t see the issue.
He would be, if the contract was frontloaded. Now it's backloaded, so good luck getting anyone willing to take on that deal. Makes him almost impossible to move.

I like the player.. I dont like the contract all that much, but again we just saw the Islanders AND Philly move much harder contracts to move. The Rangers will also be able to do so by year 5. Its not that big of a deal, as long as we dont pay more "grit" the same kind of money for another player.

Salary structure doesn’t matter at all to this team. We aren’t Arizona or Ottawa
It does to teams who don't have the money NYR have.

I see this contract as basically a 5 year deal. After that 1.25SB, he's only owed 1.25 of salary in his final year. You can find a team to take that off your hands.

15 team LNTC isnt horrible

The buyout of Goodrow after two full season isn’t crippling:
200k credit
100k credit
1,150k hit
3,650k hit
1,258k hit x 4 seasons

Sometimes these signings don’t work out at all. Think we had this in mind when designing the contract.

Correct. Salary structure is literally the reason Brassard got the return that he did. We even waited to pay his bonus first.
