Love to include a LNTC and a poison pill year 4 when production drops off a cliff and you can’t dump the contract on a team with cap space who want to save money. Goddamn that’s beyond stupid.
I'm sure the reason why it's back loaded is because of the flat cap for the next couple of years.

Rangers are one of the teams that can and should front load contracts to the max. There's no reason not to, and the players probably prefer it too.
I don't like it, at least it's just a 15 team limited NMC but when you have to look at that as a positive... I mean the salary structure makes him almost impossible to move regardless.

Rangers are one of those teams where that shouldn't matter one bit. They would spend over the cap, pandemic or not.

I dont think front loading or back loading a contract effects the cap hit. However, the deal will become much harder to move in year 4 then if he got most of the money in the first 2 years

I dunno - I feel like if the cap doesn't start to rise by year 4 of that contract ('24-'25), we're hosed no matter what we do.
Technically they middle-loaded it so Goodrow is ours for at least 4 years. Let's hope his play doesn't follow the Brendan Smith arc.
