Just losing Blackwell is fine by me. Really. That event was nonsense though. They get everyone together to present a team… that will be wildly different in 24-48 hours? Dumb. Do it all at once. And then Seattle can move forward with their team. This piecemeal approach is clownshoes.

If this is true, it horrendously stupid by the NHL.

One, you get much more excitement by announcing the trades at the draft like they did with Vegas.

Two, it’s absurdly stupid to introduce a player to the fans “he’s a big, tough kid with upside he’ll be a fan favorite!” Oh, we traded him. We knew we were trading him when we introduced him, but we waited til the trade freeze wore off to tell you that.

Wouldn’t you also get more fan interaction from other teams with people home at night primetime etc… instead of a Thursday at 1 PM

strome for gio but this seems unlikely now after Seattle had him come on stage

also heard landeskog to the isles which I don’t see how in the world it works

I'd be for this if Eichel is healthy and not permanently damaged. Buch is pretty much gone anyways and while Jones is a good prospect he's not the best one the Rangers have at that position. Losing Chytil hurts a bit but Eichel is far far better

Even if they weren’t there, the whole show was talking up each selection. Why bother talking up Soucy or McCann, for example, if they’re getting flipped? It should have been: “From the Toronto Maple Leafs the Seattle Kraken have selected ____. We also have a trade to announce, ____ has been traded to Philadelphia for ____ and ___.” And then talk about the assets the Kraken are ACTUALLY getting instead of someone who will be with them for 18 hours total. That is if there are actual trades waiting to be announced.

When it comes to eichel, it’s pretty known around that he would like to play for the rangers, don’t know if that helps us but hey who knows
