Trade Lundkvist 100/100 times over Schneider

maybe you should have shared those “many ways” with the Chicago Blackhawks who dismantled their powerhouse due to the cap.
First off, bad example of a team clever with the cap as they just signed one of the worst contracts in recent memory(Seth Jones).

Second, they actually kept their entire core of Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Crawford ect. So even if they were terrible with the cap and not clever like TBL has been, they still kept their core around.

Strange tweet with literally zero context. On both what the "trade" would be and what the "mistake" has been...
It’s out of context until you pair it with what Lebrun said

And the fact that over the weekend it was reported Drury wasn’t offering up Lundkvist or Schneider

So one would assume that’s changed and those guys (or at least Schneider) is on the table now

I think youre entitled to your opinion and you have a right to be concerned. It crosses my mind as well. But its just not something that will be a real concern for about 3 years minimum. A lot can and will change between now and then

Buch return proves it’s a concern today. He was signed for a reasonable amount and was our top RW who scored, killed penalties and was entering his prime.

Eh
Trading Schneider really wouldn't be, he's a very good prospect and I like what he brings to the blueline but the Rangers are stacked at RD, Lundkvist is probably the more productive prospect (different games but still), and there'd still be time for the Rangers to find or draft someone similar.

It's different because the Rangers would be trading from a position of strength and not even their best prospect at that position, while their overall D situation is sitting pretty.

There has to be a Lundkivst or Schneider decision at some point and if they traded Schneider now it's just making that decision earlierr

Allllllllllll that said my caveat is always "is this for a healthy Eichel or someone who's gonna be on LTIR all year and maybe never the same player"
On the flip side I guess you could trade for Eichel, LTIR him during the season, sign Daneault using the LTIR overage, and then Eichel comes back for the playoffs and you have Zibanejad Eichel Daneault down the middle for a cup run before you have to let Zibanejad walk (this is still not a great idea)

Or we have a chiropractor diagnose Trouba with something that doesn’t exist and get out of it that way, a la toews

funny how the NFL closed this injury loop hole for injured long ago and only in recent years added some flexibility.

But youre taking the Buch move out of context. It had way more to do with other factors than just the salary cap.

I guess that makes sense, but nothing in LeBrun’s tweet says anything new. I also like Schneider a lot, but he’s not a deal breaker in a package for Eichel unless the entire offer is terrible. So to single out Schneider as the “mistake” seems odd…

My other creeping concern is they’re moving to plan B and going to overpay for another center. That, to me, fits Larry’s insinuation.

ah, yeah. They kept their core and had no dollars for the rest and lost.

Remember the Wings grind line...Maltby, Draper, McCarty, Kocur. If we signed Danault and had him playing with Kreids, Blais or Goodrow, could we not have an elite shut down line, leaving the Zibs and Strome lines intact to do their thing? Making Eichel unnecessary and keeping our young talent here.

Tampa Bay just showed you again last night the cap is basically meaningless

If comes down to it in a few years they need to free up cap space they’ll attach a pick to Kreider and dump him

It’s not that big of a deal
I guess that's true if you're coming off back to back Cups and the recent resume they have.

We have 4 total and haven't had one since 1994. IF we ever win one again I won't have issues attaching picks to bad contracts to move them.

IF...

Chicago. Won 3 cups. You claim they were dismantled.

carry on responding to every other post with the same unfounded concerns.

The question is who did the Rangers beat for their 3 Cups since that was the “horror” posted

Rangers need to smarten up and figure out a way to flex their financial muscle much in the same way that Tax Friendly states exploit that added benefit that most other teams do not enjoy.

And that way is to fill out the lineup with the guys you need, and ultimately when you need cap room, to trade for guys on LTIR so the other team no longer has to pay their salary.
