They need to pre-emptively sign key players.
Kakko will not be worth 10M after this season. Give him a long term contract and eat some UFA years.
Laf might be after the next 2 seasons. Even then, hopefully they extend him next off-season.
Same for our defensemen, Kravtsov and Chytil etc
Trying to lock up our core to good value contracts before the Cap takes off
If theyre both worth $10 Mil a year, we'll be very very happy as fans lol. The cap of course is a concern, but as we've seen(TBL), teams have ways of dealing with the cap to keep core players around.Lol, the Rangers won’t have the cap space is the point.
Uhhh, why? What more does he have to do?
Today's Likely Targets (other than Nemeth). May end up with 1 or 2 of the below:
Eichel
Danault
Bottom 6 Centers:
Wenneberg
Pius Suter
Nick Bonino
Thomas Nosek
Matthias Janmark (plays all 3 positions)
Bottom Six Beef
Nick Ritchie
Ryan Reaves
The Rangers wont be paying those type of cap hits for 3-4 years. And right around that time Eichel’s contract would be ending. The Rangers would be able to figure it out the same way Tampa has.Lol, the Rangers won’t have the cap space is the point.

I understand the concerns, but like @bobbop says, fans worry way more about the Cap than Teams/GMs do.
Tampa Bay just showed you again last night the cap is basically meaningless
If comes down to it in a few years they need to free up cap space they’ll attach a pick to Kreider and dump him
It’s not that big of a deal
They've signed their players to big contracts and given NTC's and NMC's all along the way. They did not perfectly plan their salary cap the whole time. They just knew what I am telling you. The salary cap is broken. The TBL just traded $5M of cap in Tyler Johnson for $6.8M of cap space in Brent Seabrooks corpse. It's bizarre and its broken. There are many ways to make this thing work long term. Shouldn't keep yourself up at night about it. For me the key is to sign the RIGHT players and not waste cap on the wrong players who become burdensome.false - none of their players make $10. Trouba would be their 4th highest paid player with Panarin #1.
The hope card doesn’t work.
Kuch, Vasi, and soon to be Point will all have caphits of 9.5 without a state income tax. That’s easily 10+ anywhere else.false - none of their players make $10. Trouba would be their 4th highest paid player with Panarin #1.

This has been obvious for quite a few years now. I think the flat cap has teams/GMs more "aware" of the cap...but they never seem overly concerned. The Rangers wont be paying those type of cap hits for 3-4 years. maybe you should have shared those “many ways” with the Chicago Blackhawks who dismantled their powerhouse due to the cap.
Tampa is done IMO ( meaning cups ) until cap escalates and/or Stamkos contract is gone.Kuch, Vasi, and soon to be Point will all have caphits of 9.5 without a state income tax. That’s easily 10+ anywhere else.

I think youre entitled to your opinion and you have a right to be concerned. It crosses my mind as well. But its just not something that will be a real concern for about 3 years minimum. A lot can and will change between now and theni think the GM’s worry about it daily while a high percentage of fans can’t do math.
Or we have a chiropractor diagnose Trouba with something that doesn’t exist and get out of it that way, a la toewsSo 2/3 Rangers players will be on LTIR yearly? Great, everybody better than Trouba gets north of $8 million.
