The "Eastern Conference Tax" for an Eichel trade likely isn't going to make what their ask is that much bigger than what they're asking from Vegas.

Is there a chance? Yes. Is it likely? No.

Some teams take it really seriously. I remember with Sens and Karlsson an Eastern team had a better offer apparently.

They even put a conditional 1st round pick in the trade where if Sharks traded him to Eastern Conference team *that year* they would get the extra 1st.

Coleman, Landeskog
That's what I'm thinking. Love Blake Coleman too but that isn't what we are all waiting on. It's 2c that we are dying to know. Yea Danault is the only one so not sure.
I know he is not an unrestricted free agent but I saw someone post a Instagram screen shot of Elias Petterson taking all things Vancouver of it. Lol even that got me amped. Any crumbs I get RT now make the wheels turn. NFL free agency is so much better. Long live Legal tampering period.
Landeskog?

Yeah I think Dustin's saying what I was saying when I was seeing lineups with Shattenkirk/DeAngelo and a rookie Fox on the right side. They would have Barrie/Bear/Bouchard on the right. Someone needs to eat those tough minutes.

Even more so.

The Buch trade, as I've said is one of the worst trades we've ever made

Couple that with giving a forward who scored 5 goals last season 6 years 6 mill and we are f***ed
If we didn't have two potential young studs to fill his place I would say definitely a horrific trade. Still obviously risky because there is no guarantee Kravy or even Kakko can fill his shoes right away.
On your second point i agree 10000 percent. Offensive black hole (and I wouldn't be saying that if I didn't watch 98 percent of Canadien games over the last two years). and we think he is gonna magically get better into his 30's?

He had 53 points one season followed by 47 in 71 games the next and is considered very defensively reliable. There's a decent change IMO if he was Panarin's center he'd better those numbers

but yeah it's also a gamble that teams are trying to take based on his supposed defensive abilities
I rather not gamble spending 7x7 on a lockdown 3C going well into his 30's. Call me crazy but I still have nightmares of Bobby Holik...yeah yeah I know we used him incorrectly.

It’s this moment every summer when I argue with myself over caring about being in caphell. Does it even matter? Especially when we see teams lining up to help Tampa out every year?

I totally understand this but I think it's going to be more like 5.5/7 which is still alot.

three things...are we as smart as Tampa? Will the rules change? Will teams be willing to help the New York Rangers out? I rather not take that chance

They even traded Hoffman to the Sharks to keep him out of the east. What made it hilarious is that the Sharks afterwards traded him to the Panthers. lol

I think the Sharks doing that caused the Sens to to put that conditional 1st round pick in the Karlsson trade.

I have a feeling that the other owners are gonna pass some rules that really f*** Tampa over in the future for the way they're playing with LTIR
But what does Tampa care if they've won at least two cups.

At any rate I think I'd rather the Rangers trade Strome and sign Daneault than trade pieces like Chytil and Kravtsov for a question mark Eichel

Again if Eichel was 100% healthy ready to go no questions about it at all then he'd be super worth it. But with the health question hanging in the air it's just a scary thought

Other teams fans always complain about other teams helping the Rangers out so yeah.
Yep hear it constantly. We were gifted Fox. We were gifted panarin. We rigged the lottery two years in a row so rules should be changed blah blah blah
