We’re going to do that *and* trade Strome for Smith, didn’t you hear?I was looking at this earlier and have to agree. I don't see how adding Ritchie works given the wing committments they already have. I guess they COULD deal Kakko/Krav in an Eichel deal, but then it gets really tough to manage Eichel's cap hit and whatever you assume Ritchie gets. Seems very unlikely.
Strome out Danault in makes sense.
He's really good defensively. What about Kerfoot from TO? They likely give him away. Could work well with Goodrow imo

Does he actually play center or is he one of those NHL.com centers?
Earthworm JimFortnight?
He has speed not sure what else he would bring. What about Kerfoot from TO? They likely give him away. Could work well with Goodrow imo

Interesting note in Brooks' piece that Georgiev has low key asked for a trade.
I like the idea of Ritchie and LOVE the idea of a line of Ritchie--Barron--Goodrow.
I just don't see how the pieces fit together. Assuming Strome is moved, we have 7 players who would expect to play on the top two lines: Bread, Laf, Krav, Kreider, Zib, Chytil, and Kakko. We also have Rooney, Goodrow, Blais, Barron, Gauthier, and possibly Richards who would be expected to be in the bottom 6. Say we have a 4th line of Blais--Rooney--Gauthier, and a 3rd line with Goodrow, Barron, and one more player. Richards as the spare F. We could still possibly add a center (new center on the 3rd line or push Chytil to line 3 and play new C on 2nd line). That bumps Barron down to line 4 and probably Gaut to the bench.
We would have something like:
Laf--Zib--Kakko
Bread--Chytil--Krav
Kreider--New guy--Goodrow
Blais--Rooney--Barron (hey, if they get over played and trotted out every other shift, they can be the "BRB Line" haha)
I just don't see how we could add another winger without moving Kreider. Like, say we add Ritchie. He'd be on the 3rd line. Is Kreider going to the 4th? Is Barron going to Hartford? I just don't see how it works (unless maybe Laf is the "New Guy" at C).
That’s right! I had forgotten that. They purposely traded for McCann so they could keep either Kerfoot or McCann after expansion.

A classic!Crash Bandicoot
The whole Eichel thing has been dumb enough that noted Dumb Man Adrian Dater could have the inside track on it

Something like...Strome, Krav, Jones, 1st for Eichel. Then sign Ritchie for ~$3M I guess could fit all the pieces together.

Even then, our excess bodies are on the left side for the top six. We would have someone playing out of position (I know a lot of folks are fine with it, but I just don't see it working all that well).
Here's a wild idea. I'm still against trading for Eichel with his long injury history, but what if Buffalo took Kreider as part of the return? Something like Kreider, Jones, Othmann, and 2022 1st? The Rangers could then sign Ritchie, trade Strome for futures, and roll with
Laf--Zib--Kakko
Panarin--Eichel--Kravtsov
Ritchie--Chytil--Goodrow
Blais--Barron--Rooney
All four lines could roll.
