I don't think he's a much better player than people are giving him credit for, but I do think that he's an OK 2nd line center on a playoff team and more likely a very good 3rd line center on a contender. I will say that I agree that being on a team like the coyotes, with a less than stellar roster, it could have hampered his point production.
I think the reason he is an option for the NYR is that he is 3 years younger than Strome , cheaper in terms of dollars and puts up almost the same number of points per game as strome......again, on a less than stellar coyote roster. Will he perform better with better players here in NY, possibly.
Strome has gelled here and has found his game it seems, but its going to cost the Rangers in terms of a huge raise and a long contract. Is that smart to do? IDK
If you trade strome and bring in Dvorak, the theory is that he is younger, cheaper and COULD get even better than Stromes point production.....and whatever we send to Arizona in a trade for Dvorak, we could likely recoup in a Strome trade.
I think its really a matter of what direction does the club want to go..... and what the cost is. A 1st and a lesser prospect, i'd be on board with it. A 2nd and a very good prospect, sure.
When its all said and done.......does a Dvorak / Strome trade make us a better team? I'm leaning towards possibly yes.
If you look at the last two seasons and extrapolate out, he paces for about 23 goals per 82 games playing on bad Arizona teams at age 23 and 24.
So this is one of those things, again, where we should use p/82 more than point totals.
2 years ago, Dvorak was pacing for 45 points over 82 games
This year in a shortened season, he was pacing for 45 points in 82 games.
This isn't directed at you but something I think needs to be mentioned:
If the expectation is to find a player who is both good defensively, matches his offensive production prior to playing with Panarin, is good on faceoffs, young and on a sweetheart of a contract to replace Strome, we all need to understand that may be nearly impossible to find and if we do, the cost will be multiple 1st's + Kravtsov + Robertson/Jones. The Rangers won't be getting that type of player for the rumored cost of Dvorak.
4/18 at 24 for a guy who never cracked 20 goals or 40 points is not a sweetheart contract, it's market price when counting his non-counting stat attributes.
I can't speak to his defense and faceoffs are nice but he looks very much like a lateral move off Strome, albeit younger with a few more tools in the toolkit. I don't think that at market price is worth a 1st in a loaded draft, at least not at this juncture. Maybe if we have a rash of C injuries.
Woke up with neck pain this morning…it’s a sign
Saarela could have turned out to be a serial killer and that's still a bad trade.
Up is good, down is bad— I think.....( hey, what do these charts mean )?
Vally works for the Rangers organization, who have had guys like Freidman in knots this offseason because they've been so tight lipped. I find it hard to believe that they are gonna let an internal employee throw something like this out there if it was real.
I don't think playing with Hall, Kessel, Garland, and Keller has hurt his production.
If you extrapolate his goal totals you are assuming his 15.3% shooting percentage is real which it likely is not.

I mean, Valley is a MSG employee. Should he be out here on twitter teasing rumors?
I may be in the minority, but I cant stand the guy. He comes across so forced. He chews up the scenery.
no idea, I don't follow him.Hasn't he teased something several times this past month and nothing came from it?
Joe's brother also tried saying Zibanejad was getting traded tomorrow, like 2 weeks agoHasn't he teased something several times this past month and nothing came from it?
