Jays lose out :(

We would have re-sign Price if we had a real GM, right?

(Get it? Because AA isn't here anymore and the Jays don't have a real GM right now)

Last thread was full.

Warning: I started to see multiple posts between users flaming each other and talking about the poster. Stop it or it may result in thread bans or infractions.

More like we didn't play the game.

Good to stay away from a deal like this. Price is 30. He may have 2/3 good years left then start to trail off. Hard to build a team when one player makes that kind of money for that long.

Elite pitchers typically don't trail off. He will hit a wall like Halladay did when he was 35.

Elite pitchers don't stop being elite at 32-33 either.

There will be 1-2 years where this deal looks awful, but that's the price (pun intended) you pay to get an elite pitcher/player on the FA market.

True. However he doesnt play everyday. A deal like this doesnt allow u to get other players because u have so much invested into one. Signing everyday players u have to pay the price. Saying that i wouldnt pay an everyday player that money either

Why is the TSN headline "Jays did not make an offer to Price" with "Price signs with Red Sox for 7/217" as the side story? Just trying to rile up the Toronto fan base

Heyward/Davis please.

As much as I love Stroman, I still think we need another ace. But guess that isn't going to happen. Does management actually think Stroman/Estrada/Dickey/Chavez/Hutchison is a good enough rotation?? I hope not.

3rd rate pictures, eh.

they have guys who would be 4th starters on so so teams

JT Happ wont lead the jays to the promise land. I predict 6 to 8 wins from him

Marco Estrada--wil go back to about 8 to 10 wins

and don't get me started on JEsse Chavez

the jays are hoping their bats will carry them again and are praying that their pitching can be average at best

Shapiro never won a thing in Cleveland and pretty much bad move after bad move. Why did anyone in Toronto think this idiot would do a great job here? 12 million for JA Happ, but don't even put a bid in on Price. And now they aren't going to go after Greinke or anyone of that statue. What a farce of an organization. The moment Shapiro showed AA disrespect by only offering him a 2 year deal, ownership should have fired him right then and there. Pathetic, absolutely pathetic. Be prepared for a return of players in the Esteban Loaiza range.

 I actually thought most people were being reasonable when the news broke until the end of the last thread, save a few people which really surprised me. But this thread?

Price or no Price, Jays offence will help the starting pitchers with a lot of wins.

We all knew he was a rental.

We all knew he was going to sign a 7-year deal for $200 M+.

We all knew Toronto was never going to make that kind of offer.

Let's give ourselves a slap and remember this. None of this is surprising, really.

Price is 16 -2 vs the Jays.....If the road to the playoffs runs thru Toronto for Boston, could be interesting ....

Given how long Price has consistently pitched 200 innings, I think he will hit that wall sooner rather then later.

So after a few months of big market sizzle, a profitable playoff run and renewed interest in the Toronto Blue Jays, Rogers goes and does the small/mid market thing again? Seems kind of small minded of such a massive corporation to run their baseball team when they see what a real investment does for fan interest.

I knew the jays wouldn't keep price but him going to Boston hurts. He's gonna be owning us for years. Kind of sucks the jays cheaped out and usually only sign bargain bin free agents. Should be interesting opening the season against them and closing it.

Jays still have Stroman and Estrada. Then there are Hutch and Sanchez.

To me, Jays needs to shore up the Bullpen, they are at least TWO arms short of a solid pen. Hope they re-sign Mark Lowe.
