Perfect if we still want JStaal to keep getting close to second line minutes. This isn’t a 2C any more than the other three guys fighting for the job. This feels like intentional meh’ing. I’m sure his analytics are good and the price is excellent, but this story has been told before and it doesn’t end with much success. Hopefully it’s short term.

Few thoughts:

- Some guys may just be a body to get them to the trade deadline, when players are cheaper on the cap with retention and/or cap accrual. de Haan was a regular for ~3/4ths of the 22-23 season and barely played again after Gostisbehere was acquired.

Assuming it’s a Tatar-type deal, this is disposable later on.

- How hurt is Fast? If he’s out a couple months or worse, it becomes a challenge to not go into LTIR. To accrue space, they’d have to be under the ceiling with Fast sitting at home or in the press box. Other injuries are likely.

I think he’ll take his turn at the 2C which may not be a ton of minutes so we can play the third line more. We’ve said we wanted a righty center. At the presser which featured the Necas’ Dad comments, they were asked a direct question about upgrading the 2C. Rod and Don kind of scoffed at it, and started leaning into “we don’t have numbered lines” bit and saying they didn’t need a better center. They only needed a righty center.

I'm not exactly expecting the moon and the stars, but if Roslovic can basically do what Stef Noesen did for less than what Noesen got paid in UFA, on top of taking RHed faceoffs, I'll be happy.

I’ll say one thing. If we’re still trying to “replace” Tro, Jack is better at it than KK. Offensively anyways.

Also, if this leads to the end of the Kk saga while being short term then it gets better.

Roslovic needs to be a cheap add because he is basically average (his offense is equally positive as his defense is negative) and he isn’t a good center. Depth scoring with some decent wheels is it for him.
