Im thinking of ditching my time warner cable and using a streaming device like the roku.

Does anyone else use such a device and will i be able to watch Fox Sports Ohios wonderful bluejacket coverage live? Im willing to buy GameCenter live or anything else that i need.

thanks a bunch.

I have a Roku X2S, and it rules. With Netflix, Amazon Prime, Plex, and Hulu, I can watch tons of stuff.

To answer your question, yes you can watch NHL hockey using the NHL Game Center App for Roku. But, if you live in central Ohio, you won't be able to see the Blue Jackets games because they blackout the local broadcasts so as not to infringe on the rights of their local affiliates.

So, it won't be a stand-alone replacement for cable sports. Which is too bad.

if you're a fan of local sports, ditching your cable is the wrong decision. I tried it for about a year, but had to reconnect with TW because it's simply impossible to watch Ohio sports without it.

Thanks for the info. I would love to get rid of time warner but I most keep them to get my cbj fix. Thanks again.

If you know about proxies and such you can route your roku through a proxy to a different location...this is known as "spoofing"

As much as I like GameCenter Live when you get past all of the hoops understand that you do not get pregame, postgame, or intermissions.

But if you happen to not be home the time of the game, watching a full game the next day in 95 minutes is pretty awesome.

So is watching the last game of this past season a couple times over the summer.

Ohio river where? I would think if you are east (Steubenville area) you would be in the Pittsburgh area, so you should be able to watch the Jackets games without issue. South I would assume would be the Columbus area

In Portsmouth Ohio, directly south of Columbus. Pretty sure i'm in the CBJ area.

I was able to remove 45 dollars from my Time Warner bill. I kept the 200 hundred channel + the sports package that includes NHL network and Fox sports Ohio. This should work for me.

I will add a roku device later and still be better off than i was. Maybe in a few years live TV will be available over the web.
