Bill Deveaux ( top row, second from left) who was the commercial coordinator for TD Garden’s off-ice officials, died Saturday. Deveaux suffered a fatal head injury Friday while working at his job as an electrician. Deveaux was 54 and the father of four children.

Bill was responsible for the red light that tells officials that TV is in a commercial.

I posted this on my Facebook page as well and the voice of TD Garden Jim Martin commented

Jim Martin Thanks for posting this. Sadly two of these guys are now gone. Bill has joined Kenny at the Garden in Heaven. We know both are watching. So many things have happened that we know Kenny has, shall we say, "busted em." And Saturday night for the first time since anyone can remember the TV red light went out in the middle of the game. Bill 's way of letting us know he is keeping an eye on us and keeping us on our toes. Peace to both our friends.

The red light did indeed fail during the second period and Jack Edwards lost it on air.

I was working on the Canadian feed which actually controlled the light on Saturday and it was spooky. It was not an operating error by Bill's stand in - the bulb blew.

:cry::cry:

Sorry to read about Bill's sudden death.

Just wondering, can't they just use hand signals when the red light fails to avoid another Edwards blowout? They do it all the time in college football.
